How can I replace one? :'(

also, how do you remove paint from strut bar, I painted today and I have messed up really bad...

please help!!!!!!!!!!!11

Get a bolt tap kit, and back the broken bolt out.

As far as the strut bar, get sand paper, and get to sanding. :D

Thanks..but I'm confused... what is bolt tap kit and how do you access bolt from the bottom? do I have remove front fender??

Doh, sorry, just saw what bolt your talking about. Its spot welded under the tower, it looks like. So you would need to remove the splash gaurd, break the welds, take the bolt out, get a new one, spot it back in, and your good.

Sorry bro, and good luck.

thank you bro, btw, what grit of sandpaper do I need to use for removing paint?

did it to my car too bijou...time to get a battery relocation kit from jegs to hold it down now

I recently painted my struts too Bijou. I messed up by
painting it without no Primer or sanding the strut. I bought
an anodized metalic blue paint and as I paint the red Strut,
it turned out black (hand) . So I had to sand em with 3
diffrent Sand paper. I used 200, then 300 then 500.
I also used a base primer this time so that it sticks. It
looked alright but not really happy with the results. Theres
few little bubbles but its not noticeable from far view.

Good Luck:)

let the strust bar soak in paint thinner over night then use a highpowered hose or something to spray all the paint off

damn bijou! you're having quite a bit of bad luck with self mods. good luck in your futur endeavors. patience is the key to success.

i bought a yellow one, used 80 grit and sanded it down to bare metal.... then used 200 grit to smooth it out. primed and painted it and now its blue!!

ok for those people having trouble with the metalcast paints here is what I have doen with every part I have painted.

first off the ONLY part I did not primer before the paint was the radiator cap, all it had was a sticker on bare netal so I scraped the sticker off, carb cleaner for the goo(carb cleaner takes ANYTHING off) and then I washed it in soap water, dry, tack ragged it a little, metalcast blue and it came out really nice.

For everything else:
(ill use strut bar as example)
took off bar and cleaned with soap and water...
sanded with 400 grit untill all of the red paint was made dull or came off(I removed very little of the paint completely, just some edges got down to the metal otherwise I just sanded till dull instead of glossy paint)
After it was sanded I wahsed it again
After washing I hit he whole thing with the tac rag(2.50 @ autozone)
The 3 layers of MetalCast Groundcoat.
(BIG NOTE HERE< You have to use the specific Metalcast ground coat witht he paint, regular primer and you WILL NOT get the anodized look, just blue color like normal paint)
10 minutes between ground coats then 1/2 an hour for ground coat to dry.
Then 3-4 coats Metalcast blue(10 minutes between coats) then I let it dry overnight.(I usually start paint projects in the afternoon so I can let it sit for about 12 hours.)

I then installed it and drove to work(55 miles + 110degree AZ heat + engine bay heat = cure)

thats it and every piece has come out AWESOME(except where I touched my strut in 2 places and scratched the valve cover slightly when sanding the letters.

The only other part that was a little different was the valve cover, I basically did everything I did witht he strut only to clean it I used an entire can of carb cleaner, spray the whole thing brush with wire or otehr brush, hose off and repeat(till Iw as satisfied. I did this before sanding and one time after sanding to make sure all metal dust was removed.

I hope this helps some peopel, I have heard some that used a reg primer, ot didnt do enough coats or so forth. Prep is the longest part to painting anything cause your paint job will only look as good as how much you put into prep.
