Need some help from people who are smarter than me. I'm a career Ford V-8 guy and this is my first Mazda vehicle so I'm a little in the dark. The other day I changed the distributor cap and rotor button on my '93 Protege DX 1.8L 4 cylinder. After putting it back together, it wouldn't start at all. After inspecting the old rotor button, I discovered it could be put on 3 different ways. I'm sure I installed it in the wrong position. So I went old school and bumped up the #1 cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke, pointed the rotor button at the #1 spark plug tower, and wired it counterclockwise 1-3-4-2. It won't hit a lick. I've got good hot fire to all 4 plugs and the car ran fine prior to me screwing it up. Any suggestions or words of wisdom? I live about 30 miles from the closest garage and the tow bill alone would kill me.
