Hellooooo fuel cut.

Yes, and EMS should take care of that. I know for sure the MPI does because it controlls the MAF voltage and that's why you are getting fuel cut, because you are maxing it out. But the MPI also adjusts timing which will allow you to go to higher boost levels then just a fuel controller. Whatever you do, you will need some type of EMS to take care of that. And I would DEFINATLY not go with the FCD, too risky, save the money and do it right.....MPI!(thumb)

been fuel cutting like a mother on anything above 8psi on my car since it was rebuilt... i run 12psi daily... and depending on temps i get fuel cut at 4k or 5k... makes for an intresting shifting experience sometimes.... whats really fun is spinning tires... fuel cut... spin tires... fuel cut... spin tires... and shift... okay i'm kidding, its hell and i hate it.

I have the joep also and it kicks ass. Pretty simple but ingenius device really.

This DSM thingy... does it add any HP?

FCD=BAD
FMU=eh
MPI=DA GOOD,BUT ANNOYING
HALTECH=THE WAY TO GO.

HALTECH=THE WAY TO GO (If you like your car shutting off when the unit gets hot!)(thumb)

But seriously, any EMS is better then an FCD and FMU. FCD's seem too risky, fuel and timing control is the way to go.

you know I like the MPI(I am useing one),but it is a pain in the ass to get perfect,and there are a lot more tuners experienced with the Haltech.making it easier to have tuned.

Tim,you kinda got a bias opinion,you know the MPI better then ANYONE for the protege.

I do agree with the MPI being work. If you do not want to tune, then the MPI is not for you. I have no problems with other EMS', But there is a little non spoken problem with the Haltech getting hot and shutting the car down. It would be nice if people would tell the truth about all the units, the good and the bad. If you know someone well enough that is running a Haltech E6X, ask them about it, you may or may not get an accurate answer. But then again, I am only going off of heresay, I never saw this in person but got it from a very respectible source that does not like the MPI. So it's not a "mine is better then yours" thing.

eh,I have no neg feelings about the MPI or the Haltech,I am very happy with my MPI,my only problem is the fact that you have so much to learn about the software for it before you can get the car right,it makes it a PITA whenyou are learning it,especially when your only help is online,and have no one local to help you out.

My car is down right now due to a bad MAF,and F-ed up rear wheel bearing,so once it's on the road agian,would you be able to help me get a good Map setup for 14psi dialy,and 18 PSI fun?

BTW,
the only reason I origanaly didn't get a Haltech is because I also had to buy a new ECU,so it was either Haltech standalone(no speedo) or a new ECU and MPI,I couldn't afford a new ECU,and a Haltech.

but I am still glad I am runing the MPI,especially if what you say is true about the Haltech shutting off when hot.

so im guessing the mpi is the way 2 go?? whats sites can i find ems? thankz

Sheesh you just looking to spend money aren't you LOL!

I am thinking about the DSM Convert. I emailed his site and am waiting for a response. I am trying to find out if they can program it with the MAF on hte pressure side. The car runs a slightly leaner and I had to turn the boost down slightly because of it to be safe.

I could relocate it back but if I do I am thinking that my ssqv would cause stalling.
