hello all, im new to the forum. Im 19 next month and live in Oklahoma City, and ive had a 3.5 msp for a year on May 16. By the way, this is my first car and ive loved it so very much. My question is really just asking for advise on how to get started. I really dont know much about all this stuff but id love to learn, esp. b/c ive got such a wonderful car. So any tips on getting started (where to go, what to look up) for basic knowledge and car modding advise would rule. I half expect to get completely ripped for this post but i thought id take a gamble. thanks again---

how to get started eh? haha... well ummm i'd say if you have the "FUNDS" go with an exhaust system first... greddy makes a nice setup, or ion or corksport both have set ups for our vehicle. Its the best performance product for our vehicle to start off with i'd say... but if you dont wanna go that route, get a BOOST CONTROLLER, and a BOOST GAUGE and a short ram intake or cold air intake... it should all help... just start off with those i'd say.

^^^forget that s*** for now. First, go to the "sticky" threads at the top of this forum, read them all, listen to the sound clips, watch any videos, etc. Then decide where you want to go with your car.

Haha he said forget that s***. First thing you should REALLY do is educate yourself. I know there's a few books out there, and a quick search on Amazon brought this up.

Stay away from messing with any type of boost until you're educated on how a turbo works, air densities, air fuel ratios, ignition timing and EMS, compression ratios, and how to prep your engine for higher levels of boost. Go with easy stuff in the beginning, and take the baby steps. If you don't you're gonna go BOOM.

hey thanks guys. might sound stupid but that helps really. Honestly here in Oklahoma where ive grown up the Edmond schools havnt ever had a car "shop" class so that hurt and im just now getting old enough and, like someone said, 'wealthy' enough to start. but thanks anyways....im gonna read up and thanks againg for that little advise-:P

i'm no car wiz either but i did some research and had my questions answered just like you are doing. i also have 2003.5 msp. which i have had for 9 mnths, my current mods are in this order. cai, magnaflow exhaust, wideband air/fuel gauge, boost gauge, volt gauge, custom hardpipes, joep fcd, turboxs mbc, turbosmart dual port bov, now i'm working on my fmic and downpipe and trying to decide if i want to go the standalone route..now my boost is up to 12 psi, (not recommended) trying something out...next i'll change my internals and leave it at 12 pounds..but asking questions is where you need to start..there is alot of knowledge on this site.but your headed in the right direction..good luck to you (mp3yellow

Best advice yet... im pretty well educated on turbo systems, but i think this would fill in alot of the blanks.
Im gonna go BUY IT NOW!
