You know, it's fate...
I decided it was time to get a new vehicle and get rid of my 02 Honda CR-V. So naturally, I looked at the new 07 CR-V. Everything about it was an upgrade from my vehicle. I was really close to signing the paperwork and driving it home. But something stopped me... I didn't like it "that" much for some reason. Perhaps it was the styling, or the lack of horsepower, or the dealer rubbed me the wrong way. I went home to think things over.
As I pulled into my parking lot, I noticed a red RX-8 parked a few spots away from me. I immediately thought of the days when I used to own a sports car. The thrill of accelerating through the gears, hearing the engine rev, being able to take corners without slowing to a crawl. Things that I could not get from my SUV.
I've always loved the styling of the RX-8. Then I realized that I could never own another sports car as my only vehicle again without sacrificing the cargo room that an SUV provides. Depressed, I went into my home and started to surf the web again, reading more car reviews. As I went from site to site, I remember thinking to myself, "I wish Mazda made a SUV that looked somewhat like the RX-8."
Fast forward a couple of days...
Hello Everyone! My name is Jay and I live in Daytona Beach, Florida. I just bought a brand new CX-7!!!!
I don't buy cars very often, so whenever I do, it's a huge deal and very sentimental for me. I've been reading your forums here for the better part of the day and have already learned a lot, so I wish to thank you.
I absolutely love my new car! It pretty much has everything I wish I could have in a car for my lifestyle habits. Mine is a Liquid Platinum Grand Touring with Bose/Moonroof package. I could not afford the technology package, unfortunately, since the CX-7 is already a bit out of my price range. But I got a good deal on my trade-in (i think...) and decided to splurge for the Mazda.
This is my first Mazda, and so far I am very impressed. The CX-7 rides so smooth. I caught myself speeding 20mph over on several occasions already. The interior quality is top notch compared to my old CR-V, and IMO, is better than the 07 CR-V. This is also my first car with a turbo, so when that thing kicks in at (whatever rpm it kicks in at) it sort of startles me but I have no complaints about that!
The Bose system is by far the best factory sound system I've owned. I can't decide whether I like the Centerpoint Surround on or off... they both sound great!
And for an SUV, this thing really moves! Cornering is awesome for an SUV, better than I could have wanted. I don't know what its performance capabilities are yet, since I only have 35 miles on it so far. But from what I can tell, it definetely lives up to the "soul of a sports car" hype that Mazda is advertising.
Overall, I couldn't be happier. I look forward to sharing information and discussing cool topics here with fellow owners.
Sincerely,
Jay
