Hello and wish me luck!

Hello everybody!

Few days ago I would have never thought a Mazda is going to be in our garage. Then we saw on the street the new Mazda 5 and my wife loved the way it looks (and I was as well: Hey, this is nice!). She said: This would be a great car to go around town and on trips with the little one! The day after I took one for a spin from the dealer, just to check it out better. This car is just fantastic. I decided to get one as a present for my wife, without her knowing it!

So, here I am, writing this to you fine people and going home with the brand new Touring 5, in her favorite silver-green metallic, and she does not know it! Wish me luck! This was totally love at first sight purchase and I hope the car will not disappoint with quality and other issues in the long run.

I will let you know tonight she is either going to love me or I will sleep in it in the garage. (yippy)

Well, I would kill you - but I'm a control freak so...

The important question is - has she seen the color in real life? I know some people really really detest that color. I personally can't decide on it, but my husband and kids LOVED it when we had a rental in the green. I purchased grey :).

We purchased ours very quickly after a similar "love at first site" moment. We have not regretted it and drove it 2000+ miles from CO to CA less than a month after we got it.

Yeah, she knows the color. The color is kind of 50% of why she likes the car, as that was the only color we saw on the street and I guess that is what let her going.

She just "hates" cars because she likes to sit tall, kind of like you sit in a mini van or SUV, but she does not like those as they are too big. So, the ideal car did not exist (not at least in USA) till this Mazda came out. I am aware that there are some similar products out there, but nothing is as cute as this car, so it is all a combo of things that no one else offers right now on the market. This car is just the closest thing to what she always wanted, but we could not find as these type of cars were never imported here.....

Well, guess what, I am so much loving it so far, if she does not want it, I will drive it..... but something is telling me I an not going to see the key soon. The verdict is in few hours.(2thumbs)

If she likes the color then you are golden.

Make sure you put a big bow on it for full effect. Every girl dreams of going out to the driveway and finding a car with a big bow on it. Especially something as cool as a 5!

Have fun.

Dont worry about the ride height, its lower to the ground than my old (2000) mustang and even though you seam high up, you can lower the seat. It is suprisingly fun and the first of its kind. Im addicted, I also bought it for my wife but not as thoughtful as you. I knew she needed something bigger so I traded in my 3 Hatch for it, so I gave up my nice car and got her hers. She is now in love with it.

haha, i bought mine for my wife, too. on father's day, on top of everything. post pics of you surprising her.

Congrats Pulmino

Great move friend and enjoy your purchase....welcome aboard and let us know when ur wife is online to chat

BTW LADYGREY I didn't know your a romantic (alright)

so?. . . . .

What was her reaction?

Sorry, being impatient.:D

Hope you took some pics.

Congrats, and great move.

You made a smart move. She will love it.

BTW, where is Jandree22? Every post here needs to be stamped by Jandree22!! :)

Just a quick note as it is late..... She loves the car! We went for a drive and it was a success! The whole package was made for her, almost her dream configuration - small, yet big and super versatile, and on top of that cute, elegant and a great (to her) color. She is really not a car person and it is not easy to predict what she would like/dislike in a car, but boy, this car was a strike. We just had to invent a trip to somewhere so we can drive it more and more. And then the whole demo I made at home with the sits folding, creating cargo space, etc, was just the cherry on the cake. Man, I was so lucky toget this right. She did not stop smiling the whole evening - I have never seen a car to do that to her. I think everything went beyond my expectations....... I need some time to digest all this, so more later. But yeah, there is one more happy woman tonight. (yippy)

Good night.

So glad it went well and she liked it!!! Sounds like it was a slam dunk.

Zoom-zoom, it's not like I recommended filling the seats with rose petals or anything ;). I'm actually not much of a romantic, but dh is and I've learned a lot from him in 19 years...

Well done, Pulmino.(first)

At the risk of sounding real uncouth, I guess you got some last night, huh? (lick)

Seriously though, I think what you did was truly commendable.

Guys, this car is actually fantastic for the money! We are sitting here and inventing trips which otherwise we would not make, so we can just keep driving it! The car has 150 miles already, no one wants to park it. Wife is so, so happy, it is not even funny. Mazda have done an incredible cocktail for under 20K. Driving this thing is such a new experience. Suddenly we are not in a rush and just enjoying the 30 mph stretch, sitting and looking out, letting the cut car just carrying us. The whole driving approach is different. The car just offers you feeling that others do not. I do not know what it is, but wife just smiles and I smile and the kid is happy and we are just driving around, kind of seeing the surrounding area from a totally new point of view. We love the ride quality, the silence, the smoothness. Really fantastic job, Mazda! We are all truly surprised and for once that is a great, positive surprise. What a cheerful experience! ..... Sorry I am getting carried here, but really, this is kind of one of the best kept secrets car. Makes you wish to tell everybody to go check it out right now.

And yes, martman, I got some "extra" last night! LOL. It was pretty predictable, no? Tonight looking promising too! :)

Going for another drive .... talk more later!

LoL! We have only one girl so far and we are getting old, so I think that will be it.

The most important part is that wife is in love with this car (already!), so mission completed. So far it had been only nice surprises with this great piece of a car. The last thing that surprised me was parking it tonight after driving up and down for total of 190 miles, and the fuel level is still above half, and we are not even trying!! Perhaps on a good run this thing will get 350-400 miles on a tank and that is simply the bomb for such a heavy and not small vehicle. And ours is an Auto too, not even broken in - so, my hat off to Mazda, again!

fyi the 5 still has a full 3 gallons when the fuel light comes on and it sits on E (atleast mine does)

Great surprise!

I'd be smiling too if it were me! I'd love a surprise like that and I am a car fanatic....and I am a total Mazda fan!! Not too many people know what it's like to drive a Mazda......but it now seems to be catching on with it's stylish models and good prices! I am ready for a Mazda5 or Mazda CX7 myself....driven both, love them both....the CX7 is much faster(turbo) but you pay in price and MPG so I am leaving it up to the hubby to decide. (hoping by Sept. to get one) It would be cool for him to show up with one like you did but I highly doubt it. I drive him nuts...I want a car every 2-3 years! I have a Mazda RX 8 and love it but I need cargo space now for my son and my business. Anyway, way cool on the surprise and there was no doubt in my mind about her being thrilled or not! Great choice and enjoy Zoom Zooming!(first)
