2010 Mazda CX-9
Hi All!

I just returned home from the Mazda dealership after spending much of the afternoon there. We just bought a 2010 Mazda CX-9 AWD Touring with moonroof/Bose pkg, and power lift gate pkg. Got the back-up camera, and sat radio too. We got it in Stormy Blue Mica with Sand leather interior. THIS IS THE FIRST NEW CAR I'VE EVER BOUGHT!!! I have always been a believer in "new used" cars but we feel we got a good deal on this one. Paid $31,945 for the car plus tax, title etc... We will take delivery on it next Monday, I can't wait!

So, any advice for me as a first time Mazda owner? I do look forward to chatting with you all on this forum. I have been lurking here for a while and got some great tips before buying. I did'nt want to make my own post till I bought the car. I am active on my Jeep Wrangler forum and my Ford 500 forum. I traded in my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder for the CX-9 and said farwell to my forum freinds at Nissan(hi)

My first thing to do for the new car will be to get an aftermarket Ipod adapter that will charge and play the Ipod through the factory stereo. I also need to get a Thule roof rack system for it. I may or may not get the factory "rails" and add the Thule stuff like bike, canoe and skii carriers etc. I would like to add the cargo liner but loved the write up I saw on here with the homemade one so I may steal that idea too! Car did not come with fog lights or xenon headlamps so there is room for upgrades there too, one thing at a time I guess! I also need to research if I can add aftermarket remote start as I have my old system from the Pathfinder. I'll probably run a K&N air filter and Optima Red top battery in the new car too.

I live just outside of Boston where it is a balmy 15 degrees today. I do hope the CX-9 fits ok in my garage. The 2010 seems to have some nice improvements over the 2009. We test drove some 08's and 09's with 20 - 30K miles on them but there was not enough of a price difference to go used on the car, so new it is! We have not seen our actual car yet, it is at another dealer about 40 miles away so they tell us the car will have about 43 miles on the clock when we take delivery on it. I look forward to learning and sharing my experiences with my new CX-9 with you all on here!

Good luck. I live just up the road in N Andover. What tires do the '10s come with? If you got the Duellers you should consider a better all season or a snow replacement. Best of luck!

I second the opinion.
Ask your dealer to swap out the lousy OE tires, the Bridgestone Deuler H/L 400.
(see reviews on tirerack.com to see how bad they are)
I have Yoko Parada Spec-X on now (after suffering for 23K miles). The difference is
huge and the OE tires are actually more expensive. Go figure!
Your Touring should come with 245/60R18. Check out tirerack.com for alternatives out there.

Welcome to CX9. The worst part about CX9 is the tires. Get rid of them, and you will be in great shape.

So here we are a few minutes before driving the new 2010 CX-9 off the lot this morning. The car drives nice, it has 151 miles on it. It came delivered with the Duellers so we will have to wait 40K miles to upgrade. We used USAA car buying service to negotiate the low price. Problem of course was they gave us pretty little for our trade in. Also we thought they were offering free oil changes for the life of the car, but today we learn the fine print; free oil changes for the life of the car as long as you go there for EVERY service according to thier service schedule, forget about it! Valvoline will be much cheaper in the long run. We love the car, it drives a little bumpier than I remember on the pot holes, rough roads etc, but I imagine the suspension will break in and loosen up a bit with time? Ive got to do something about the loose licence plates both front and back too (as I read about in another post here) Also have to call Sirrius and get my free 6 months of sat radio activated. So the car will never be this clean or worth this much again, driving a new car off the lot today was the first time I have done that! Glad to be a part of the Mazda community now.

Boston, I live just up the road in N Andover and by no means would I try and tell someone what to do BUT do yourself a favor and next time it snows, find a parking lot, and test your (in) ability to stop with the Duellers. Snows are a must with the weight of the vehicle and our climate.

Dang, how'd you get the price that low??

Don't beat yourself up about the price vs. whatever you paid. There was a trade-in here and if the dealer gave a little on the price of the new car they probably made it up a bit in the price of the trade-in. Any financing would further complicate the comparison. Unless your talking about pure cash deals with no trade-ins, you can't make and apples-to-apples comparison of the purchase price.
