Recently...My Mazda Dealership lent me a loaner....It was a 2001 Proteg...I put on the heat towards my feet and put my hand near the vent...the thing was blowing hot air like crazy compared to the MP3 heater...Has anyone else here had the same problem with the MP3 Heater?

must be the exposed radiator on the MP3 keeping everything too cool, haha

my heater sucks sometimes..but I'' give you a quick fix..Turn the heater on, full blast..then...FLOOR IT! hahaha that'll heat upp your engine nicely..I had to do that last night and boy It got hot!

Overall my heater is fine...it's the vent near the feet that doesn't let out much air (cold or hot)...any solutions?? or common problem?

Try adjusting the position selector cable. It's the one on the drivers side up against the center panel. Turn the knob all the way to vent only take the cable off and make sure the mechanism is fully on vent. I had to do this when i put my HD back in and wholla better heat and a/c coming out of the proper vents...evidently it wasn't adj. right from the factory seening as how thats the first time it'd been off.

Ya, Mine doesn't blow hot air at all. Like after maybe 5 min it will be luke warm, but I have yet for it to be HOT.

sorry joe....but I got news for you.....by turning your heater ON...it will COOL your engine down...NOT heat it up....as the heater is using the heat from your engine...and the fan blowing air across the heater coils REMOVES heat from the water/engine coolant inside it.....this COOLS off your engine....not heating it up...

SO.....just as a reminder to any of you....if you find your car ever starting to run hot during the summer time...or anytime for that matter.....turn on your heater and run the fan full blast....open your windows if you need to....but it will help....

I had to use this trick once a long time ago...but it got my car down the road a few hundred miles when I was litterly in the middle of nowhere...and to where I could get a few tools to pull out my thermostat...which froze partially open...but not far enough.

I still dont' know what's up with my heater. This morning when I really needed it it blew cold air. Today after work (thank god for the 1/2 day) I got under the drivers side panel and touched some of the gears that controlled the amount of air coming through, and it's direction- then- bamn, I have hot air. I dont' understand.

Where is the lever/area where the pully opens the fluke for the hot air? Drivers side? (sorry for my lame usage of words) :)

I think he's trying to say that flooring it causes more engine heat, and thus more engine heat to be blown into the car. I've noticed this as well. When I'm at a stop light with heat on full, its nice and warm, when I step on it or go on the highway, its gets down right hot... too hot!
