those are for taking it apart, you want to make sure its put together. see the post with the cable wrapped around it in the second pic? follow that cable back a little bit and there should be a metal clip on it, make sure that clip is attached to the plastic tab as you can see in the picture.

my dash looks nothing like that inside, ill have pics soon, my heat still dont work and its like 19 degrees here....

this is a totally different issue than the heater one. there is a TSB on this and the dealer should fix it under warranty if you still are. i see your in cleveland, was it Classic in Mentor? those guys are ******* assholes.

actually, its the same issue. my a/c was doing the light going on and off thing, and my heater was only blowing luke warm air, so i took it into the dealer, still under warranty and i've had a stero installed, anyways, only told the dealer about the a/c problem, forgot to mention the heat completly. when i got my car back, a couple hours later, some other things needed fixed to, the a/c was working like a charm, AND the heater blows nice and hot air again, so it is the same problem, the switch inside or something malfunctioned or broke or something, but yea, just take it into the dealer if still under warranty and you wont' have a problem

in order to take the unit out of the dash the wire posted above must be disconnected. im sure what happened is they took it apart, and when they put it back together they reattached the wire the correct way. but i agree with the taking it to the dealer if under warranty...especially since the wiring setup supposedly isn't the same

So i was having major major problems with my heater and AC. So i took out my glovebox this afternoon, and i noticed that the cable was attached to the post, but the black clip that you can see in the second picture wasn't attached to the spot it was supposed to. So i attached that and i am hoping that this helps my heating problem.
Without that attached at both points the cable won't turn the gears all the way, so i wasn't anywhere near where i shouild be for the heater to be turned on, it was like i was stuck in the middle of my temp controls.

Ah, but why was the black clip not stuck on? One possibility is that somebody has previously misrouted that cable. If you pull out the center console the heater cable should go between the center and the left brackets and under the wiring harness, then back to the firewall, hang a right and straight over to the white heater dial thingy where it attaches. On my car somebody had put this cable betwen the center and right brackets. That caused it to pop out the black clip and it was at nearly right angles to the heater control. When it is routed correctly that cable sits naturally so that the cable is very near where it is supposed to clip on.

Look in the HOWTO section at the instructions for disabling the automatic A/C. That should tell you everything you need to know to fix your controls.

They are fixed now :) Heater works well, i tried it on my lunch break. It was nice to have heat coming out of the vents instead of just luke warm air.
It was probably disconnected from when i pulled my AC controls to paint the center console, I remember hooking the wire back up to the post, but not to the clip. So it was my own fault.

So it was my own fault.

i've found that to be the case in 90% of these problems....either your own or other non-mechanic friend/shop (ie best buy)

I'm having a similar problem but it is with the position of the heat it only blow on my feet or defrost
nothing comes out of upper vents will this fix the problem im having or is there another cable somewhere?

That's probably the cable that goes to the left of the console and comes out near the drivers right knee. That cable is shorter and should be routed to the left of the left console bracket, under the wiring harness, and straight into its own little white dial. It also has a black cable clip which must be attached. This one is a bit harder to work on than the one on the passenger side because the pedals and steering wheel poke you and generally get in the way. Nothing you can do about the pedals but at least raise the steering wheel as far as it will go before you start. Once you get your head near the dial you can look back along the cable to see if it is routed correctly.

The first thing you might try is to unhook the cable from its post and manually rotate the dial through its positions, just to make sure that that part works correctly. The dial positions are of course 1:1 with the console panel control positions. If that works then it's definitely a cable problem. Note that there really isn't anything you can adjust, it just has to be assembled correctly: the cable goes on the post on the dial, it clips in the black cable clip, and it must be routed correctly through the console.

I have a different heater issue not related to aftermarket radio install. Does everyone's ac compressor run if setting on heat (pointed at feet only) & fresh air & ac button not pushed in & temp all the way to red? The only way my ac compressor stays off is with dial towards feet & vent with ac button unpushed & on fresh not recirculate with temp dial towards red. On feet only & red for temp & ac button off, ac compressor should not be on......

Yes I got that same problem so I have to pop out my dash where my CD player sit to have the heater blown I don't know what happen when I instal my sub system it did that to me now if I push back the dash kits around my CD player back in to place it will give me freezing cold air and is not even funny. This year Oregon is cold as heck and I hate driving cold. I don't mind them summer lol.
