Heard this through a dealer grape vine and now..MS CAI..No more!

+1 on MS CAI with no issues. I have had it for 10k and no issues to date. Still lovin the sound and pull with it on. Now if cobb will release their AP with a MS CAI map.....then I will be really happy!(friday)(friday)

It’s highly unlikely that Cobb will release a Map for the MS CAI. Did you not hear the news? Mazda stopped the sale for the MS CAI. It causes a lean issue, maybe not on yours right now but it can and will happen eventually.

Or....there might be a greater demand for a MS CAI tune out of the AP now since there are so many MS CAI owners out there to eliminate the chances of a lean spot in cold temp maps.

add me to the list.
Bought mine from tiffany @ showcase mazda during GB for $300 over the phone.

How do you figure it will just happen one day?

I have 21k miles on mine and no issues at all so I doubt one day its going to decide to take a s***.

According to the dealer its just like the TSB reports where some have issues and some dont. I dont have issues with mine so I am happy as of now but it sucks for those who bought them whom have problems and spent the money. They really should issue back a refund on them but I doubt the ebay people will have any luck.

With all this warranty BS I wont be putting nothing after market on my car, I just dont need the stress of it. Racing around at the price of tires, gas, speeding tickets and warranty BS isnt worth the extra power. This car is plenty fast and I have realized its best left alone for me.

Whatever floats your boat!
It is a nice, fast car stock I agree.

Do you have any input about why the MS CAI could still be an issue even with those of us who are not having any now?

I would love to mod the car but I guess I am sort of realizing just how much money is wasted in doing it plus there is no real practicality for more power. The damn thing gets me into trouble as it is let alone more horses in it, lol.

Not just that but its FWD so how much more do you guys think it can handle? The damn wheel pulls like hell from me in a turn or if you hit a bump I cant imagine more power going to the front wheels.

I just wanted to be happy with the CAI and be done. So far so good but reading this s*** freaks me out. It was the same about the engine bolts even though mine turned out to be fine. I guess Mazda possibly just said F-it and took all the CAI's away because of an issue some had that they cant figure out.

I have a question for you. Have you talked to your local dealer about what they think about you adding simple mods to your car? Perhaps they wouldn't mind, you might be surprised.

As far as how much more power the MS3 handle I would say about 300-320whp / 310-340ft/wtq without doing anything really drastic like a turbo upgrade (Seems to be the general consensus) But I agree with you in that even stock it can be a handful at times.

Maybe you're right about the MS CAI and nothing bad will result with you keeping it on. Best of luck!

Well I hope mine stays running good because so far its great. Then again I drive like a b**** most of the time. The dealer couldnt believe that I have 21k miles on the stock tires and I still have a tinny bit more before the wear bars, lol.

Mods are fun and all but I think you have a point and I will ask about them. The only other thing I would want to do is a new TMIC but I dont want to mess with the motor mount. On the other hand maybe its not a bad idea but that part scares me to mess with after all the engine bolt issues some had.

I guess when I think about all that money just being wasted once you sell the car it sort of sux. This is the same reason I have not put rims on this car, huge waste of cash that you dont get back.

Then again I just bought my 3rd custom $2k 1911, lol. I suppose its all about what you are into at the time and what each person likes to spend money on.
