I guess it is the stock air box or buy a different car now...
I wonder what it meens for those of us with it and didn't buy it from the dealer or have it installed by the dealer? I know I got mine off Ebay because it was cheaper than the dealer. I get my oil changed at the dealer every 2500-3000 miles............I know I will not be swapping the intake back and forth all the time. I do over 500 miles a week so that is like changing the dang intake every 6-7 weeks! No thanks.........
I saw this on here today also....

Why buy another car?? Just buy the Cobb SRI and call it a day

Like I said...dealer does my oil changes. I do not need warrenty issues at all & the Cobb SRI would certainly alarm some dealers. I have one here in a box. Some times I am tempted to throw it on but.........That is why the MS CAI is there. One of the selling points for me was the free oil changes and the warrenty but I am friggin stuned at how Mazda is with warrenties. I have always owned Fords and no cold air kit or cat back has ever voided my warrenty.
I just do not want any crap but..........who doesn't like a few little bolt ons??
If I have to stay stock to keep the warrenty then yes........this car is gone and I will just buy some thing around $12ish for cash and no friggin warrenty.........screw it.

I hear ya.. I'm kind of surprised as well about Mazda's warranty bs but I'm not going to let that scare me away for a great car, but I can understand your agrument.

Maybe Mazda will come out with a re-designed CAI or make a SRI. If they make a SRI I'll jump on that like stink on s***! However, the dealer I go to doesn't mind the Cobb sri but it would be kinda neat to have more "Mazdaspeed" parts as that might help the re-sale a little.

I would put the Cobb SRI on and not worry about it. There is really no reason why Cobb's intake would cause them to void your warranty. Unless you installed it incorrectly (its incredibly easy).

By law they can not void your warranty on the entire car. They obviously won't cover anything that happens to the intake, but everything else would be covered as usual (pending those parts aren't modded).

I have had both the MS CAI and the Cobb SRI on (neither installed by the dealer) and nothing has ever been said about them.

Well, I bought mine from Showcase in an ebay auction. I just emailed them to see what they are going to do about it.

What is the issue with the MS CAI?

I am not aware of any problems and mine is great now for 21k miles. I was also just at the dealer for oil last week and they didnt say anything either.

There is no way they can sell the MS CAI as maintaining the warranty then later on change their mind about it. I also got mine from Tiffany at Showcase Mazda but did so over the phone so there should be records of it. Since I dont have any problems with it I wont worry right now but I would like to understand what it going on.

Obviously this isnt just the MS CAI with issues then right? I imagine all the copies and after market ones will have the same issues but at least there will be less s*** about warranty if I have a problem with their own part.

The Cobb SRI hasn't caused issues like the MS CAI.

Although didn't get mine from Tiffany, I have records of the purchase through ebay and should, somewhere, have a receipt.

I went with the MS CAI just for the warranty. If they refund my money, I'll get the cobb instead. I hope they don't do some kind of bullcrap credit.

i ordered mine over the phone from a lady named tiffany. pm me when you get a anwser from them.

just an FYI, Tiffany isn't with Showcase anymore but Showcase is a Mazda dealer in Phoenix... they should be able to help you out.

First - If your dealer gives you s*** for a CAI, I would find another dealer. That is just pure ignorance on their part.

Second - I would not believe a word said by such a dealer and odds are they are filling your head full of crap. I call BS.

Third - I have had a MS CAI for 16k miles now and never one issue. IF (And I stress the IF) Mazda is discontinueing the MS CAI, then it's most likely for a knee jerk reaction where they have no idea what's causing a problem and they are blaming their own product.

My dealer is about as cool as you can get. They even told me I need to get a FMIC as the engine looks so cool with one. This was from the Service Managers own mouth. I suggest you find a good dealer and treat them with respect and honesty. You might find out that they will return the favor.

I have a MC CAI and it's been on there since mile 6. I now have around 11k and no issues at all. I am Mclovin it.

Join the club; I bought mine from Showcase two days before the Stop Sale order. I just e-mailed them as well. At least my CAI is still in the box. I'm really disgusted with Mazda in general. The reason I went with the MS CAI was to avoid warranty disputes with my dealer(who is mod-unfriendly), and I don't want to screw around with removing and re-installing the Cobb SRI. I've about decided to return to the RWD side of the street...

Well I guess those of us with no issues plan to leave them on?

I know I will leave it alone until, or if, I ever have an issue. I have 21k miles and no problems and I still love the sounds that sucker makes.

The one problem I just had and fixed was that metal housing broke. The cheap ass welds that hold the cross piece on the end which holds on to the filter nub broke loose. I heard a metal tinging at idle and found it to be this. All I did is enlarge the small holes between the 2 spot welds and put a screw with a nut and blue loctite. Its perfect and noise went away at this point.

I have heard about COBB etc but I will not put a after market part on there since the entire basis of me getting the MS CAI was for warranty issues. I dont care if they are stupid I dont need any BS or stress over something so stupid. Like I said my CAI has been great and no CEL that I can remember, even when the first batch of MS3's were getting them for other reasons.

I called my dealer just now and they said they are not exactly sure why the stop sale was issued. He said it appears to him that the newer 08 MS3 has issues with a CEL and that previously designed MS CAI. When he asked Mazda about the previous sold units of the CAI they said if nobody has an issue with the CEL then leave it alone but they are going to redesign the CAI to fix the sporadic issues some are having.

Screw it mine is staying on there and he said no warranty issues with the MS CAI only after market stuff and that if I choose to run after market parts to change it back to stock before I bring it in. I have window tint and the MS CAI because I never want to worry about that BS.

Please let us know what Showcase Mazda tells those who have contacted them. From what I can tell a stop sale doesnt mean they will buy back all the units that are out there. Perhaps if you had an issue they would but I would like to know more about it.

this sucks.

the dealer i bought my car at OWES me a FREEEE MSCAI. i wonder what i can ask for instead of the CAI. ideas?

guess i'll go with the cobb SRI.

I guess if you are not going to do your own maintenance you can go after him for that. If not how about the same value in gasoline?

Gas prices FTL! :(
I started feeling nauseated after feeling up my tank this morning.
