headlights dimming

is there something wrong iwth my car, below, in my sig, is what im running, whenever i turn the music up loud, or i go to put my window down with my system on my headlights dim, a noticable amount.

it doenst seem to dim with bass hits or anything when im just listening to music, it just randomly dimms and then undimms. also im not running subs just components.

Seeing as you don't have a sub and sub amp, you won't get bass hit dimming! :D

However, it just means that you're drawing a little extra power from the system, and the wiring/power switching in the car (all proteges) is pretty weak. There are a couple of ways around this...

1) upgrade the big 3:
a) wiring from batt. + to fuse box
b) wiring from battery to ground (ie grounding kit)
c) wiring from alternator to battery/fuse box.
2) Replace your battery with Something with more CCA and reserve as well...there's a couple to use, like the optima red top, exide orbital, etc.
3) Replace alternator with higher current one...this is really expensive, and without the wiring in place first, it's useless.

It shouldn't be too bad for the car as is, but the big 3 and battery upgrades are almost necessary for proteges with systems.

thanks for the quick reply, i dont have the money right now to do a new battery, i may not until after christmas, but i have enough to do the wires. do you recommend that i buy a kit?? if so where should i get one, or should i jsut get some crimps and make some wires myself. what do u recommend, 1/0 gauge, 4, or 8. or something else, i think that those 3 are the most common though.

btw currently im running 4 gauge to my amp if that matters for anything

I'm about to do the same upgrade. It is surprising that we would have to make such a significant upgrade.

I'll be upgrading mine with good quality 4ga from Lightning Audio when I do my amp install later this week.

Good luck on yours.
