Headers installed!

Pic of the engine compartment...got the OBX headers installed now. I need to get a seal for the header/exhaust flange...right now it leaks and when i accelerate u can really hear the leak.

oh it runs great. i backed out of my drive way put it in drive and gave it like 3/4 throttle and put tire makrs on the street...pushed it to open throttle...chirped 2nd...def. an increase in power...but with that leak aorund the flange it sounds rice...gotta fix that tomorrow! I recommend them, a pain to get the stock stuff out but it slides right in. Only problem was the egr fitting that goes onto the header...i had to use a coupling and some 1000degree gasket maker and seal around it cause of an issue with it..but its no problem works fine.


i also realize the title of this post is headerS installed. i know there is only 1 header on my car..im just used to being around muscle cars with 2 headers so its just a habit...i kno it makes me look like an ameture with this car...sorry. lol

yea those cables plus the NKG IV iridium plugs make a world of difference. Ugh, driving sucks right now with that exhaust leak at the header/exhaust flange. i cant WAIT to seal that up tmorrow with gasket maker and shut it up. Other than that its a nice low rumble like an engine is suppose to sound...smells like it to--forget the EPA. lol

don't forget about the muffler that i told you about....well,you heard it already....makes a difference too.

Where did you get the NGK wires and plugs from? I misplaced my Denso Iridium ones and haven't bought the Power Cables yet. How much did everything cost you? How long was the install of the header(s)?

I GOT them at www.sparkplugs.com (for the racing powercables) $56...
for the iridium plugs,i got them at advance auto parts...

patsfan4life and i have the same set-up...the install of the header really depends of you....if everything goes smooth..it should take less than 1 hour.

yea plugs were under $25...the wires like he said are $56, the header u can get for 180 on ebay, or i went to a vendor on here and got them for 235 shipped. Its a good deal, you stay under $500 for everything.

I have the header and exhaust setup from Thunder so looking forward to putting that on. But I don't know if the header and exhaust set-up is a one person job.... My stock plugs I think need to be replaced real soon because I think Im running on only 3 cylinders. My car is slow enough as is.... I don't need it to go any slower!!! The wires are my stockers so Im going to swap those out when I swap out the plugs as well. But Im mostly concerned about the install time for the 2 pieces together.

Steve-O, you need two people for the exhaust of you'll never get it lined up right. You might wanna invest 25$ in the Kartboy exhaust hangars. It'll help keep your muffler tip away from the bumper.

headers and inspection?

Do you have to do anything special to pass inspection? Dont you have to have a CAT in to pass inpection? In NC we dont do pipe testing, but I figure if the mechanic sees the header he will know I dont have a CAT.

Do you know if there is a group buy for any 1.6L headers? How can you find group buy info and how does it work? I am new to this so I need a lil help.
