Head Unit Swap. Dash Kit Question.

Need some help and/or suggestions, please.

Recently found a new Kenwood EZ-500 online for less than $150, so I decided it was time to upgrade from OEM radio and have the option to control the iPod from the head unit.

I have read about dash kits and wiring harnesses already in the Car Audio section, but after looking through it and searching online, I cannot find any custom dash kits. I am looking for something different than the black plastic Scosche or Metra kits. I have even seen a picture of a guy with black plexiglass around the new head unit, which looked nice.

Can anyone suggest a place to find a custom kit, or a How-To on how to create my own? Thanks.

Mazda sells a black pocket but without the door. I'm using one I bought used.

It's a full DIN, not the partial DIN that the Scosche Kit's have.

Not sure. These are the pictures from the guy I bought it from.

It's hard to keep it "level" if I put it under my head unit, so it's angled a bit [the back of this pocket points downwards towards the front of the car].

And here are my installed pictures.

You can see how it's angled, and you can see how I jammed in a piece of cloth to have it hold tightly. There's nothing on the back that will help hold it up.
