head gasket???

if there is enough of people who want to up the compression with a thinner gasket i can arrange them to be made....

Can you arrange for gaskets double the thickness of stock to be made? Depending on how much, I'd rather do this than risk screwing something up..peace of mind.

Not I, I just asked BC I was curious. BUT, if I planned on staying N/A, I'd consider it...

How would the thinner gasket truly affect the performance? If it was of some power improvement I just might be interested.

And then, how difficult would it be to do? Never pulled a head off before to replace a gasket. Not been into an engine with such issues before.

By putting a thinner head gasket on it will lower the clearance between the piston deck and the top of the combustion chamber thus increasing compression. C-Speed racing has a good compression calculator but it is for hondas you could probably use it for our cars if you knew all teh specs like deck height head gasket thickness, deck clearance so on so on.

Ben

Not to stomp on what u said but it is very possible to run without a head gasket. At least if i am not smoking crack i am pretty sure like a ton of race cars like indy and f1 and others like the lmp class don't run head gaskets. This is why if u watch an indy race u will see the first few laps be cold and slower times because the head and block are not expanded together yet. I am pretty sure i know what i am talking about. Sumone tell me differnce if i am just full of s***.
Peace,
Zane
P.S. I can spell i just choose not to

The first few laps are slower because the tires aren't warmed up yet...At least thats the reason I know of, not anything about the motor not being ready.

Hey StuttersC

No thats why there is warm up laps and u see them cut back and forth hard that warms the tires, when they run low mph its not enough to expand the head and the engine. The guy that lives across from me is a master-tech at Ferrari of Atlanta and he was talking about what i told u with my dad one day and i was just listening so thats why i am not so sure. It just made since to me so i shared so thats why i am saying shoot me down if i am wrong but this is what i know so.
Peace,
Zane

I know they have warm up laps, but they don't get the tires up to operating temps all the way. The warm up laps get the tires warm enough for them to at least drive 8/10th or 9/10th of what the car can do.

After the first few laps the tires are finally at full temp and they can then go 10/10th....

I've seen a number of cars try to go to fast out of the box on the first lap with tires "warmed" up from the warm up lap and spun off because the tires weren't warm enough.

I'm sure you could go without a head gasket, but both of the surfaces have to be machined perfectly flat. The super high pressures that the cylinder walls and head is under would definately leak if there were no gasket and the head and block were not perfectly flat. Maybe F1 teams have access to machining equiptment that can do that, but I'm sure mazda doesn't sell cars at that level. There is too much time and money involved to make parts that perfect.
