Got a CEL 2 days ago. 900 miles and code P2006. They did the intake manifold drilling thing. I was told the same thing about it happening to both CX-7s and MS3s. I was also told that the switch replacement part is currently being manufactured, so it would need to be special ordered if I needed it.

I had the CEL come back on now, which was pretty much expected. The dealer I originally took my car to said they won't get the switch part for 2 weeks or so. Anybody know of a dealer in NJ that has the part in stock?

Welp I've officially joined the CEL club today! I had many wonderful CEL's come on with the protege so this is nothing new to me. P2006 it is indeed. These new cars are just so sensitive to everything and if one little thing isn't working properly off to the dealer you go. This doesn't seem like a major issue, hopefully mazda will make good for such a common issue. How 'bout a free MS CAI mazda?

Not sure my build date or number... CEL came on this morning after I stopped at the store and restarted. Taken it in Monday.

So far, nothing. 1580 miles, car built in December, picked up in February.

I guess I'm due for a CEL and a trip to the dealer - except I was told that the dealership where I bought my car is shutting down! Oh well.. The one on the way to work is also a Mazdaspeed dealer, I just think the sales guys they have are incompetent. The service department isn't bad, from my experience with taking the old P5 there..

I got a CEL @4800 miles. Took it in an it was the MIRC sensor. (P2006). They said there was a new sensor and they just had to replace it. I also noticed a "Reprogram" so I think they reflashed the ECU. Seems to run great.

I was surprised....they didnt mention anything about me cutting holes in my air-filter box!

I changed m intake in the car and the light came on. All you gotta do for that one is simply unhook the neg. end of battery for bout 15-30 minutes and put it back on and walla.

Hello! Also Cel In Spain

Greetings from Spain.

Here the MS3 is called Mazda3 MPS.

We are a few people with the car by the moment, something like 5 people in Madrid. Guess what? Two of us have started with CELs.

One is confirmed, P2006 (my friends one), with 3.000 km (1.875 miles)

The other (mine, came also with 1900 miles) is not confirmed to be a p2006. It came on one whole day. The day after it didnt come on, and in the shop they could not read any dtc code.

The thing is that our mechanics are not familiar with the problem and they dont know how to proceed. It seems that Mazda Spain is not advised, or dont want to be...

The thing is, can you help us? Could anybody give to us copy of any document issued by Mazda USA referring to this problem? Any official bulletin or whatever? Anything??

Its funny, but we have to teach our mechanic shops about this. Spain will import 200 MPS (MS3) per year, so they do not pay much atention to us...

Thank you in advance!

I don't have any documentation. There isn't any kind of official bulletin yet, that I know of. My mazda mechanic had to call Engineering to figure out the temporary fix for the problem. I now have the new part instead of just the quick fix for the IMRC problem. If there is a part available then they should be able to get it for you. Seems strange that they can't find out the information on their own. One thing you could do is print off some of the messages about it here in the forum. There's a few different threads on the CEL and they should be of some help to the mechanics. They could also call a dealer here in the U.S. to see if they can help.
Sorry you have to work so hard to get your car fixed! Good Luck!

Thanks a lot for your advice!

We will print off some threads about the subject, and get in touch with Mazda Spain about it.

I agree, it is surprising that our dealers cant manage themselves to solve this problem...

In Spain, the MAZDA 6 MPS (MS6) is in the market since... more than a year. This is supposed to be also the 2.3 T engine, does it have the same problem? The MS3 is brand new (less than 3 months in the market).

We will keep on moving. By the moment my light is gone, and the car seems to work good.

Thanks!

My light came on and went off a few times. They were always able to read the code though. The only noticeable issue for me, as far as performance, was that I didn't feel I had as much power in 3rd as I should have. It just felt restricted. Since they replaced the part, It feels a lot better.
I don't think the MS6 has had the same issue. Although I know it had others. But I do know that the CX7 is having the same problem. It is new for this year as well.

My MS6 does NOT have this problem. The MS3, on the other hand is affected really bad. I haven't pushed the issue at the dealership yet since the fix is not official yet.
