Have you guys seen the redesigned WRX?

This is the international 2003 model, which should come here as a 2004 model. Along with the cosmetic changes, you can see, the funky hood scoop actually improves air flow to the intercooler, the aerodynamics have been improved, and they've improved the steering feel. Also, a sunroof and leather seats will be added as options. The interior materials have also been improved, and the tach is now center mounted. What do you think?

Here is the WRX Sedan:

Here is the WRX Wagon:

Here is the STi Sedan:

The WRX Cockpit:

And finally, the 2003 WRC car:

Personally, I think they're much better looking than the current model. I'm excited about the improved interior materials bit too. The reception has been mixed so far. A lot of current WRX owner seem to hate the new design. Go figure. Anyway, on with your opinions!
*edited to reduce image size and add wagon image. Your wish is my command sir nuke!*

Kenoka....those look really nice...but could you go and edit your post and resize those pics? they are frickin huge.....make them all the size of the WRC cars image.

I heard about them changing the front facia a few months ago. Apparently the european and japanese crowd didn't like the old front piece, so Subaru redesigned it. Hopefully people will respond better to this one. I'd personally take either one and hopefully they'll make HID's a factory option if and when the release the new one here in the states/

WOW!! Much better! I was just saying the other day that the WRX design was kinda goofy looking in the face. They made excellent changes in the styling which not only match the styling of the rest of the car better than the previous design, but increase functionality as well!!! BIG thumbs up from me!:D

This is what I thought would happen. Over at i-club, it's been a raging debate. My theory was that most of the negative responses were from owners of the current WRX who were emotionally defending their babies, rather than looking at the design objectively. So I thought I'd get some neutral opinions.
cmack98: The STi is actually still not confirmed for North America yet, but theoretically it should price out in the $30,000 neighborhood. I hope they come in around $28,000. That would be about right. Above 30k you start running into some fierce competition. If you extrapolate Japanese prices, the STi costs around $26000. Of course over there the WRX costs around 19-21000 too. Damn them.

I dunno....I don't think it looks that good........then again what else can you get for that price with that performance so it's looking better...............

At first glance that Scuby looks like a Nissan. I like that front end a lot better than the current roundy rolly-polly looking thing.

Nice looking car though.

35,000!!!!!!!!!!:wtf:

Forget that......that's way too much for that car...I was thinking 25,000 tops....heck, I'd get the Nissan Z.......geez 35,000 is almost as much as a corvette and that's alot more bang for the buck...........well my opinion of that car just changed......

The STi is simply not viable for $35,000 in this country. Are there people who would buy it for that much? Sure. And you could probably sell out the initial allocation for that much due to pent up demand. But what about the year after that? And the year after that? It just doesn't work out. Especially with increased competition from other companies (G35/Skyline, Evo, RX-8, etc.) Subaru must keep this car under the $30,000 threshold.

Even at $30,000 that is way to much for that car. You are well into Audi teritory there. And Audi is a much better car than a Subaru ever could be.

Audi has already proven itself in the WRC, and then BTCC and is still workin' it in the DTM. Not to mention it has done reasonably well in the SPEED World Challenge.

And I shouldn't even have to point out that Audi has simply dominated the ALMS and the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past three years.

Yes, Subaru has done well in the WRC, however they haven't done as well as of late. And at $35,000, if I had that money to buy a car, I would be in an Audi with quattro sooner than an Scuby WRX STi...

Whohoo, looks like Hundai is finally doing a kickass car, oh, its a Subaru. hehehe

I second that!! Especially after being priviledged with the presence of 3 of the new Zs recently--the silver, orange, and black....wow...

StuttersC: I like Audis too and I see your point. But tell me what Audi you can buy for $30,000 that has 280 hp, 3 differentials, 6 speed tranny, and engine internals that can take several hundred more horsepower?

Well, you could find a nice old Audi Coupe Quattro...You'll spend considerably less than $30,000, who cares about three differentials (loss of horsepower), you won't get a six speed, but with the money you save you can build one hell of a monster Audi rally car that'll stomp the Scooby.

But yes, as it stands there is no NEW Audi that'll do that for $30,000. Although, the RS4 comes pretty close with a slightly higher entry fee and better looks to boot. The RS6 would be nice too...But then again why stop there and go full bore for a nice S8.

Of course for the price of an S8 you'll have three Scoobies. Maybe four, if you buy them in Malaysia.

You know...I think the new look is just "okay"...actually the current look is more unique...I used to think it was ugly...but I've adjusted to it...the current style has more character...more aggression...

I think Audi's are very refined...but they are hogs...especially the earlier A4's...look at the performance #'s for the Quattro...they are really unimpressive...Audi's are defiantly not bang for the buck in terms of performance...the Lancer Evo is going to be one of top threats on US soil when it gets here. The new Z is really sweetglad to see Nissan back in action. The corvette is one of the best bang for the buck performance cars.

And the Pugs are rally kingsCitroen is coming on strong as well.

Well.back to topicthe new look doesnt excite me.

I agree. I used to think the bug eyes were ass ugly, but they have grown on me. If you take apart the headlight and peint the interior like ours, the bug eyes look really sharp. Lots of WRX owners do this.
