hatchback vs sedan

How come the hatchback has rear headrest while the sedan has no rear seat head rest? Any reason why Mazda would choose not to have rear seat head rest in the sedan? The only possible reason I could think of would be visiblity, but I don't think it would make a huge difference.
Cost-cutting. The Mazda6 sedans assembled in Japan have them. But the N. American hatch and wagon have headrests so they'll soon put them on the sedan (probably at the '06 refresh).

don't complain about headrests...complain about navi(JDM Only) and hid's! hell the 3 gets navi and user adjustable hid's.

The best way to use quick refrence is that refire red is alot(3-5 shades)darker than the volcanic red(real bright)

that dude's red 6 is a hatchback, you can tell by the back window, it's closer to the spoiler than a sedan.. it appears as if he removed the rear wiper.
there is a wiper in the attachment(1st page)...and tinted headlight housings....

also another thing to use for quick reference is whip antenna and larger V6 badges above side moldings indicate car is 04...then the glass stops perfectly flat at the top where here is a washer fluid squirter nozzle(rear window) and trunklid has chmsl(3rd brake light) integrated just above the mazda emblem(spoiler has no led 3rd brake light(headshake )

Was Mazda also "cost cutting" when they decided to place the rear speakers into the rear doors instead of the back where rear speakers are usually placed?

When you mean a "06 refresh", do you mean the next generation or next model year?

reason behind door speakers in back was possibly cost cutting since the hatch or wagon can't place them in the deck...so run wires 1 way and keep it simple. Granted the rear door speakers don't even please the rear passengers and are shielded by the seats so front passengers don't benefit from them either...

To my knowledge, as Da 6 says, the speakers were placed in the doors so the rear speakers can be common for all 3 bodystyles.

By refresh, I mean a re-styling/refreshment (e.g. '05 Altima, '01 Protege, '00 626, etc...). The refresh for the Mazda6 will be in '06. As for other things in the refresh, let's just say hint, hint for what Da 6 wrote above.
