Well, I've been surfing these boards for almost 2 years now and it looks like next week I may get my 3. I was looking for a sedan, but because of availability, it seems that a sedan may be harder to get. Not to mention that a local dealer is offering $2k off of the hatches. My wife hates hatchbacks so she is giving me some grief. When it comes down to it, its my car and her opinion doesn't really matter. At one time I owned a 1990 CRX si and the hatch seemed to rattle all the time. I got over it after awhile but I am skeptical about buying another one. What have you hatch owners experienced with your car squeaking or rattling? I plan on lowering the car with MS springs and struts and putting an 8" - 10" sub in the back.

haven't had any issues with rattles at all... (car is stock) but haven't heard any issues with lowering, and as far as rattles from a sub, it is the typical areas that are problematic, the liscense plate and spoiler... just like on a sedan... and 2k off of hatches is a sweet deal... do it!!!
I figured the sub will rattle a little, but that is why there is dynamat. But thats good to hear that you haven't had any problems. The hatch that I'm looking at is titanium, 5speed, leather, moonroof and ABS. With the discount it would be $17.3. Hopefully it will be there next week.

But it does seem like most that come in are Auto..ick...im looking for a 5sd, xenon/tpms, abs, 6cd/moonroof 3s hatchback in either black or silver. a dealer up here says they have a blck one with those exact packages for $20,055 and said they would sell it for $19,109. is this a good deal? edmonds says invoice is about $18,600. if i can get the gerber discount, that would put me right around invoice.
I dont have a problem finding manuals, its just that may of the 3's locally are well loaded and quite a bit more expensive. There are 36 manual hatches locally. The dealership I am looking at is actually only 3 miles from MNAO and has a pretty large selection.

I think that package is pretty good. It has all the necessities without going overboard. I'm not too big on the leather because I was planning on putting suede seats in eventually, black leather is just going to be real hot. Oh well, at that price I shouldn't complain.
Well, It doesn't look like I will be getting a 3 for a little while longer. The stupid prick lied to me about the price of the car. Then he started giving me a bunch of bulls*** about how he is a "holy man" and he does all this good s***, blah, blah, blah. It was one of the most pathetic sales confrontations I have ever been involved with. Then to top it off, the sales manager was being a dick, told me that I was wasting his time and so on, so **** em'. If you live in So. Ca. DON'T EVER BUY from IRVINE MAZDA.
my dealer wont budge below $18000 (which is the invoice price) on an 05 silver 5spd hatch with abs and 6cd/moonroof packages. all of my local dealerships are ******* assholes. it pisses me off that you guys are getting ones with leather, abs, xenon, and 6cd/moonroof packages for $17k. i know it has to do with the area you live, but its not like i live in a rich area, they are just being assholes.
My dealer wouldn't budge over invoice either, thats why I don't have a new car. So Cal is the largest market thats why we have such a large selection. We also have more buyers so thats something to consider too. On www.thecarconnection.com they were talking about how the 3's sales are down this past month because the shortage of models. Especially 5 speed sedans. This is why the dealers aren't really dealing. They figure that if you want it, you can pay the invoice price.protejay5 said:

Because there is a shortage, they need to make as much as they can on the ones they do have. But I do agree with you, it sucks.
