i did mines using a sandwich plate. i had to replace the oil filter bolt with a shorter one.

the good thing about the plate is that it has more than one port so you can put say oil pressure and temp.

in this guys case he needed a new oil filter bolt to use a piece like the one you were looking at. I don't know how to do that, and personally i would prefer just using the fittings etc, but your mileage may vary.

oh i see i see.. well yu were able to see what i sent you? and i guess im going go with the directions.. i just dont know what to buy, like everything yu bought .. i need to kno everything ill need

yes i was able to see the link you posted, i had to click the 'reply' button on your post, copy and paste the end of the url and tack it on to www. street unit .com.

As far as the list of parts you need, there is a link to a thread with part numbers direct from a hardware website....

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123615506&page=2&highlight=oil+pressure

you'd need to look at the '1 aftermarket gauge with stock sender' list. In addition to that stuff, you'd need the things for the hose, which i outlined in the instructions.

I'm not trying to tell you my way is the only way to do it, just saying that personally i'd prefer to do it the way that i did it.

no i dont feel that way.. i trust your way cos you have done it and it worked out perfectly for you .. and how do you feel this istallation was.. easy..hard? its pretty much if you follow the directions you stated its common sense..correct?

ummm, it was a little bit frustrating, mostly just because there is so little space under there and trying to make sure i had the right parts and all that was kinda a b****, but if you have the parts and can get a good hose, then it shouldn't be too bad.

I managed to get my car up on some ramps so it was plenty high up in the air, which helped out some.

I feel like i've represented pretty accurately the things that are involved in my directions.... the only hard thing might be getting the right hose because i managed to get one made custom at a local speed shop.

I should clarify: if you've got a decent amount of mechanical inclination, it shouldn't be too hard. If not well then i dunno.

If you are going to do a lot of work under there for oil stuff, I'd take the intake manifold off (yay, so much "fun".. ugh). I hate laying under the car reaching up into that mess to work on stuff.

Taking off the manifold makes it a lot easier. If you have the 626 manifold, you will not need to take it off for sure. the side opposite the throttle body is completely open:)

well taking off the manifold will that hurt anything? cos i dont think i would or will be taking it off..
and as far as if its a easy job, your right if im able to go by what you said in the post i will be find.. im going to purchase everything you told me .. but i do have a ques. its better to go electrical verses mechanical.. ?

i would go electrical. you should never run any mechanical pressure gauges into your cabin. in the event of an accident and those lines come loose and free, they will leak all over you (think hot oil pouring on your face). not good.

Ummm, boost gauge...(poke)

i actually never put it together like that, like think of the causes and everything.. good points going on here..

yeah... but boost gauge does not have hot liquid (oil or fuel) that can spray all over you and burn you. manifold air will be hot, but will not "spill" all over you.

My buddy's mech. oil pressure gauge sprung a leak and pissed oil all over his alpine deck from in behind, over the space of about a month... Biggest mess ever!
