Has anyone thought of this? (headlights)

**a little lengthy but interesting**

I was looking at my p5 headlight assembly today and thought to myself that it really doesnt matter what kind of bulb you buy for your low beam (which is what most of us use all the time) because the actual bulb is being blocked by that little dome looking reflector in front of the bulb. Basically your low beam is a "reflection" of the bulb...and thus is weak. What I was thinking about doin is taking out the headlight and breaking that little relfector off thus exposing the full bulb and emitting full power. Once the piece is broken off simply break it into small peices with a bird beak plyer and shake out the pieces through the bulb socket hole. When reinstalled your low beam will now have the same look as your hi beam but will simply be pointed towards the ground...result...crisp white low beam...you will see the actual light and not its reflection..so what do you guys think? Has anyone done this? Thanks

Nope no one I think has done it, the only thing I have heard people doing is Angle eyes that's about it. Do you want to be a pioneer and try it? :D

Your beam pattern is gonna go to hell. Buy some HIDs if your lights arent bright enough.
BTW A P5 headlight from Mazda costs about 400 bucks apiece

i would love to get HIDs if you can tell me where to get em..and please no one say liteswap...cuz they dont...

ok so if i dont go with this idea do piaas, silverstars, etc. actually show brighter than stock even though they are behind that reflector? any pics:D ...thanks

you can get H.I.D's here- www.corksport.com but be prepared to pay $1400 for them. Personally If I were you I would stick w/ the stock bulbs the ones in the market are really not that much brigther than the ones we already have, plus do you really want to keep throwing $30 down the drain if they burn-out frequently? If anything change the blinker lights in the front and in rear and save your money for worth while mods bro.

ok realistically?!

where can i get for the same that everyone else got em for..and does anyone have any experience with piaa super plasma H3 fogs?

The P5 headlamps got kick-ass reviews in a Car & Driver test a year or two ago. They lit up a pillar that was 600 feet away. They're definitely better than the lights on any of my previous cars

Don't forget...the bulbs that go in our low-beams are designed for a headlight housing with the "little cap", so the tip of the bulb is coated in plastic (or whatever that stuff is) anyway. It would probably also look kind of goofy when the lights weren't on.

Like someone said, it's going to really screw with your beam pattern. That little reflector is there for a reason. When designing the car Mazda didn't say to themselves "Hmmm, these lights are too bright, lets put this cap in front of them." As you noticed, it's a reflector, as is the back of the housing. Those parts all work together to focus the beam; without it, you're going to have worse output.

ok dumb idea...my bad:D ....now that us guys mention it im seriously thinkin about the McCulloch HID kit...just need to know what temp to get 5300, 6000 or 8000...any suggestions?
