Has anyone cut Protege coil springs?

I understand all the cons to this I've done my fair of looking & cant find anything. I have new stock coil springs & my old ones are still good. What if i cut my old ones? & no bashing me! Have you done it? How much coil would i cut? Im looking at a 2inch drop with them just to see how it would look. How much should i cut? & yes i know the pros & cons even the water cutting trick due to heat

It's not a good idea, but if you know what your doing, I guess go ahead. I don't know if you'll be able to achieve two inches. You need to leave enough spring length to where you still have some preload. If you go too short, there is no going back. If you go too short, the spring will no longer seat at the top, and when you unload the suspension over a dip or after a bump, the spring could fall out of place. This would be very dangerous.

I agree; look around for some Eibach Sportlines or others but keep in mind that the rear, front, or both sets of bumpstops may need to be trimmed or replaced with shorter ones, if available. Otherwise, you will crash hard on the OEM ones over certain types of dips in the road.

You can trim or get the ones for a MSP. IIRC they are 2 sections tall and oem P5 are 3 sections tall. I did cut the bumpstops down but swapped to MSP ones later.
