Harness Bar solution!

Yeah that will work thats the same one i have that one is better because the ends that mount to the pillar are welded vs the swivel kind and thats cheaper than 170. i lucked out and got mine in a part out. i will install it tonight and get some pics of it. I was test fitting it the other day and IDK how it was off before but now it fits perfect so ill snap some pics when i get it installed

Well heres the pics of the bar. This was just a test fitting

Im contemplating on just keeping out the interior trim or leave it so i took pics of both so whats your opinions

Rico, your harness bar is worthless at that angle. Glad you weren't in any accidents like that.

Speed, if the interior trim pieces fit, why wouldn't you leave them in? Which harnesses are you going with?

Well i just wanted opinions on it i was thinking of removing all the panels thats why. But ive decided to leave them in because i just got all the msp interior trim pieces so itll look better with those than my grey ones.

As for the harnesses im not sure which one yet ive been looking at a few i want the ones that will wrap around the bar. but I got some harnesses that have mazdaspeed on them. Im looking to get some different ones. Do you got any ideas or recommendations.

its going to be dd/auto/ and the cruise in the twisty hill country. But i just bought some msp interior panels so its all gonna stay in. im gonna clean up the top pillar part and redo the headliner

Do you plan on Auto-x'ing it at all? I've been doing research on harnesses for my P5 and I know in my region, NASA banned 4 point harnesses for 2012. And generally you don't want 4-points anyway because of "submarine-ing", where you will slide under the lap harness and it can damage your internal organs. If you're going to run a harness a 5 or 6 point harness is the safest way. But not very comfy for a DD. But when dealing with safety belts, I wouldn't skimp out on them. I'd get some quality ones. Schroth seems to make great belts for a good price. But there are tons out there.

I wanted some harnesses in my P5 last year but am holding out for an Autopower 4 point rollbar, 5-point harnesses and new seats. I had to sell my beloved Evo8 Recaros because they didn't have the crotch cut-out for the belt. But i understand even 4-points make you feel so much more secure in the car. I had some in my old Civic and I loved it. Just as long as you're being safe about it (and you're on the right track with the harness bar). :)

well the 4pt is mostly gonna be for show i dont think their the most secure ones (the ones i bought in the pic above) so im looking for a 5 pt so ill look into the schroth ones i want to autox it but im not sure if ill get up early enough to compete...lol (late nights) but that is the plan.

Totally understandable, mate. These Schroth's have a "submarine-ing" feature supposedly built in. And aren't too terribly expensive.

Are you going to run the shoulder harnesses between the headrest bars?

edit- and I'm willing to bet 4-points are fine for local Auto-x, but of course, check your rule book first. But for track days, I think they're getting fazed out...

No im going to get some racing seats i just bought some wedge brackets this week. And im looking into seats now, but the fun part is i gotta find one that will fit me im a big guy so my choices arent that many. but i was talking with cres and jt and they were mentioning corbeau and nrg so im still looking ive been looking into some ebay ones but idk which route im gonna go yet gotta do my research on things first. I know safety is my main concern but id like to get it without breaking the bank if ya know what i mean.

Im going with simpson 5 or 6 pt harnesses. Those schroth's look nice too though. No autocross for me. I'm trying for road racing through SCCA.

They do make "wide" versions of racing seats too. Here's an inexpensive Corbeau on eBay. . My friend has a set of Corbeua's in his Rx-7 and they fit me really well. (I'm 6-1" and 190lbs with a 32" waist). My other friend has a set of Sparco fixed backs and they were pretty tight. A little too tight for a DD I think. But I forget which Sparco's they were. I'm trying to try out as many fixed back racing seats as I can before buying. I'm always like "Hello (insert drivers name here), may I please sit in your seat for a tic?". haha

yeah thats about the average price ive been finding for those shipped. im 5'9" 310lb 42" waist im a little wider i think theyll be a snug fit but thats fine im looking to loose a few lbs before the summer so itll be fine.

yeah id like to do that too but idk any one with seats id like to get some fixed ones but not sure if id be happy down the road. so im looking ar the reclining ones but im just not sure which ones i want yet. i want them to be comfy and sporty looking

so at 6'1" 160 I have a 31 waist. Lewis where is your weight? you buff or something? or just have a big brain? Im not worried about seats being uncomfortable for dd unless they are bricks then I would have to shy away from a seat.

Hell yeah I'm ripped, bro. (Just kidding. I about average size for my height. I'm not ripped but I'm not fat either.)

Aftermarket seats generally are much lighter than the OEM seats. Especially if you have the side airbags in yours. And fixed back seats are even lighter. While a well bolstered aftermarket seat will keep you in the seat MUCH better than our crappy OEM ones, a fixed back does that job even better since your hips don't slide in the seat. And I personally sit upright so I like fixed back seats. And you can tilt them back or forth to a degree with the side mounting points if you're mounting them on side mounting rails.

Unless you like/prefer the gangsta lean in your seats, then go with the reclining type. lulz.

thats how i roll man my seats are so far back im driving from the back seat...all High Tower style...lol but i do like a little lean but i think it would better for my back if i sat upright so i am still leaning toward fixed seats just to find one i like, that will fit me, and wont cost an arm and a leg.
