hardcore custom fabrication

OK, so I have a crack in my stock callaway EX manifold..

I have decided to redo it all myself :D

I'll post pics dont worry!! Taking them as i go along :P

I have ripped out my manifold, turbo, s, and j pipes.

I have fabricated the cylinder head flange, and the turbo flange out of 1/2" stainless 304. I have also machined a tapered male w/ attached flange that snugs nicely into the stock exhaust (catalytic converter).

I am currently tacking HUGE 3" pipe (actually 3 1/8 Inside Diameter!) from my cat going towards where the turbo will sit. (making it backwards)

The turbo is being shifted directly downwards by 2-3 inches to eliminate the fitment issues others have been having with larger downpipes. Therefor the exhaust manifold runners will each be 2-4 inches longer (being made out of 1.68" ID piping)

Im having a few issues cause im doing most of it alone. lol.. just need someone there to hold while i weld initially really.. I got a friend that helps but he works alot.. lol i do too but its at the shop..

Anyways, Progress is slow but im the turtle that wont stop. Pics to come!

Ideas/comments/suggestions/criticism?

let us know how it goes.......i just realized yesterday that I have 2 huge cracks in my manifold and i will need to replace it soon because I am afraid that its going to crack in half!

hes makin a custom downpipe, which means its one piece
and he said hes making the manifold different then stock too since its going to be 2-3 more inches lower

wish i had that type of skill :(

Yeah i just finished the tapered piece that fits into the cat.. now that i know that the connecting pieces are identical, im removing it and building a duplicate of the s and j pipes.. but without the connecting flange, so yes one piece.. They will look close, but for sure will not be..

Im hoping i wont have to replace any of the coolant/oil lines :P

so you're necking it down into the stock exhaust? I have to ask... why? just keep going, once you're there, the hard work is behind you.

lol the only reason is because im temporarily out of mulah$$!!

Im not scared to cut what ive made a month down the line or so and just make a 6inch connecting spool flange-flange from my custom to a fullback 3" :D

ive considered putting in a 'Y' directional flow valve on my exhaust so that i can flow through the exhaust and cat converter for emission tests and DD... then if i take it to the track or have a planned drag with a friend or something.. i COULD port my exhaust straight off the turbo directly downwards (so it'd be like NO exhaust.. just more of a flow director because the pipe to the valve would only be like 5inches)

What do yall think?

I have a cutout and you still cant really hear the turbo. My brothers SRT-4 has a cutout and that is a whole different story, that b**** screams.

haha i need to get yall a vid of mine then...i have a t3 garret and its ******* loud...i can rev it in nuetral and anything past 2500 is pure turbo sound lol...also when im driving all you can hear is turbo lol

okay well i went and made a short video....BUT apparently my damn camera refuses to pick up the turbo sound lol...i really dont know why considering its louder than my damn exhaust and it got the exhaust good....

But anyway here it is just for the hell of it....if you listen close you can hear it, just imagine that times 100 lol..

Vid is uploading now....
