Hard to get gear selector out of Park?

Anybody have this issue?
Sometimes it's difficult to get the gear selector out of Park. I have to basically put more force on the selector (slowly) and then there is a small jerk when info finally get it out of Park.
Id imagine this would be covered if I have CPO powertrain warranty?

Maybe press the brake pedal more firmly when you want to take it out of Park. I've had this issue on my CX-5 ( extremely rare but it happened).

Many cars have a safety feature that prevents the car from being moved out of park when the brakes are not pressed. What year is your CX-9?

My 2016 CX5 did this a lot. Dealer even replaced the shifter. Only way to truly eliminate it was this:

Apply foot brake while in Drive or Reverse
Shift into N
Apply parking brake
Release foot brake (to come to rest against parking brake)
Reapply foot brake
Shift into park.
Turn car off.

When you start it up next time it’ll should out of park like a hot knife through butter.

Older models like my 2010 mazda 3 had a cable linking the brakes to the transmission that would seize with corrosion. The fix to replace the cable was fairly cheap. That transmission was the same in many later models. Probably not on the 2nd gen cx-9 but maybe on the first gen.
