One more pic as it sits...

Ive had the same problem in a few vehicles too. Go to the hardware store and get a small section (a foot or less is plenty) of the metal stripping w/ holes pre-stamped into it. Now bend the metal strip so one end screws into the back of the radio (theres a small screw in there, alot of stores place anti-theft stickers in here) and the other end into that metal bracket where your factory radio was.

Sorry for the rough how-to, its kinda hard to explain. :\

EDIT : The bracket is the one front and center in your 3rd pic. Looks kinda rusty, but you should be able to take that bolt out and just re-fasten it there with the metal strip. Good luck!

you should just get a msp under-radio pocket, and the metal bar that screws in between each DIN slot, cleaner looking and fits noice

TKDoyle there is a how-to thread in the how-to section for that I believe. I had a mounting bracket like that one and eventually gave up on it and got the MSP pocket and metal bar. The problem with the bracket you have is that it makes the radio stick out too far so even if you had a rubber stud mounted off the back of the head unit it won't reach the holes in that support beam behind the radio hole.

hmm interesting! thanks for the update! does anyone have a pic or better description of this msp pocket and bar? id be interested in seeing it! sounds like a better solution.

TKDoyle, I have the same pocket as you have, and on the silver cage that is aroud your deck you have to bend a couple tabs there and i believe a few on the black pocket as well then you slide it back in place and its locked. Works fine for me no complaints.

ah THAT pocket haha - thanks for doin the search for me :) i have my sirius starmate installed in my pocket right now, looks fairly clean, esp with all those wires it needs to connect to.

but enough of the thread jacking - to the orginal poster, did you get your problem solved?

Im going to do it this weekend, Im going to autozone or something and just rigging something to hold it up from the back, Thanks and Ill post a pic once its done!

You definately need to secure the metal cage into the black trim piece first. bend as many of the tabs as possible. Your deck will lock into this cage.

For support, I found that I could put a screw in the back of my new head unit and then stick the rubber piece on that screw.

When I slide the head unit back in, I can direct the rubber in to the hole with my other hand through the glove box.
