Guage Cluster

I have a 2002 LX protege and I'm trying to get to the guage cluster but I can't get the first plastic part off (the one with the two screws at the top). The wires from the alarm light, that is on the bottom of the plastic piece, is stopping me from removing it. Any ideas on how to get it out? Thanks

hmmmm I would sware I answered this already? I wonder if my posts are evaporating or something....

first as you know take out the two screws at the top....then GENTLY pry the bottom out...now the piece is loose and can be removed....

NOW...you have to gently lift it out and guide the wires....if you are lucky, as I was, the wires are long enough and you can work the piece out towards the drivers door side and let it hang....IF the installer didn't give you any slack in those wires such that you can do this....you have only one choice...and that is to get you some insulated connectors and cut the wires....then splice them back together when you are done. and if you have to cut the wires...use some insulated spade connectors or bullet nose connectors so that if you ever need or want to remove the piece again you don't have to cut anything, just unplug it.
