GT-28 or haltech e6x

haltech... get it running right in the first place before you start increasing cylinder pressures

true
but i can get a new GT-28 for about 900 bucks. the haltech is gonna be at least 1175 plus tuning costs (dyno) etc.

anyone else?

from the look of it u made ur decision already......i go with haltech also...im gettin a ems before i even think about upgradin the turbo

i know im looking at it the retarded way but i think i might be happy running the gt28 at 6-7 psi and call it a day with no tuning

i guess it really depends on how far i want to take the car.

How much HP do you think i will be seeing with the gt-28 at about 6-7 psi? What would the equivalent psi be on the gt-25?

also, i can sell the stock turbo and get a large chunk of my money for my haltech already there.

but you all see my dillema correct?

i dont know when i will have 900-1100 bucks again and if i buy the turbo now and put it on, then i can use the money from my stock gt-25 sale to put it towards the haltech and will have both sooner than i expected.

like boostisgood said, you can get 250 out of a t-25....

but only with tuning is your engine going to survive at 250

ok, what i dont understand is that every where i go, i see the gt28 is cheaper than the gt-25

wtf is going on?

mpi tuner, not for me....

can anyone find an accurate price for the gt-28 compared to the gt-25

is our stock turbo the gt-25 or gt-25r?

also, the gt-28 has the same flange as the gt-25 i believe. Can anyone verify this? Will it just be a matter of swapping the gt25 for the gt28, or will there need to be modifications done?

Also, the ambient air inlet, is it a flange style on the gt-28 or is it like on our cars?

what mods do you have so far ?, i would go with the haltech e6x, with that you shoud be able to max out the stock turbo, if you gona put in bigger turbo you would waste it untill you get the ems

and is 250hp the max our turbo will do i would think it shoud be able to hit at least 300 ?

the gt-28 and gt-25 will swap. the compressor housing, and wheel is whats different. :D

I still suggest the Haltech. I understand your reasoning behind the t-28, but if you tune the haltech, you will get more power sooner then with the t-28. :D

well i wouldnt be "wasting" it for that long because i would be turning around and selling it right away, most likely here on the forums. With that money i made from the turbo sale, i would most likely be able to get the haltech pretty soon after i sold the turbo.

i figure im getting more things done quicker this way.

I would jsut be worried about the larger airflow with the t-28, and not be tuned for it. I know your forged, but forged people have blown up too.

Its all good. I support ya in whatever decision you make. :D

well i live in ann arbor MI and i wont really be doing any serious power tuning before spring anyways.

i just need a runnable car until about may. I think the gt-28rs will do me nicely.

look here for all garrett turbos:

please, please get the haltech 1st, without being able to tune the more airflow you will have with the bigger turbo its pointless to me...but hey its your car, i guess do what you want, but when your car runs like s*** when you just slap a bigger turbo on you will regret it
