1988 Mazda 323 4spd
Hey everybody, how's it going. As the username suggests, I drive a 1988 Mazda 323 hatch.

It's the base model, without all the bells in whistles. My cruise control is a steady left foot, my automatic windows are dependent on how willing I am to lean over and crank the passenger window, it's the way I like it. To me, simple cars are better cars. I just love the ability to work on my car and not be required to use a computer. I've had this car for two years, I am it's second owner, and I have loved every second of it.

To date, there have been zero mechanical problems, the only thing I can acredit to this is a previous owner who was absolutely meticulous with details. For instance, when I bought it, everything looked showroom fresh. It was hard to believe the car was 20 years old, it didn't look half its age apart from the always instyle 80's bodywork. The only real maintenance I perform is keeping oil changed and fresh religiously. (I don't drive very many long distances, so I aim for every 5 months.) In addition I've replaced the spark plug wires and plugs when I first bought it, though in reality they were relatively in good condition.

It drives well. Not quick by any means, but smooth. Everything works perfectly well. The clutch is really intuitive and is a joy to use. The shifters throws are pretty long, but it works well for the kind of car it is. All in all, this is a great little car, perfect for my situation (community college student, just need it for bopping around town to and from class)

Well, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. Didn't really intend to write so much, but it turned out to be quite a longwinded introduction (crazy)

Welcome! Nice to see more BF 323s still on the road. I would like to say mine is still a source of daily enjoyment, but it is undergoing a full shell-up restoration.
