The intake is what has the most to do with the turkey sound. If you have the stock intake box on, you won't hear it until you get a CAI.

no stock air box i have the stock plastic pipeing still but it wil change with the spool cai but even with just the filter comeing off the maf still no turkey sound just that nice whistle sound i will take some clips in the morring for all the mazda peeps lol ....

Not 100% true, if you put an intake on and then take it off you'll get a small turkey sound when you punch it hard. I had a short ram on for about a week or 2 and I took it off and went back to stock, and now when I punch it (especially in 2nd gear) you can hear the turkey loud and clear. Even with the system on you can still hear it. Not as koud as an actually CAI, but something anyway.

ok just to start off the car has never had the turkey sound the fist mod was takeing off the air box and putting a cone style filter in its place and now with the type s and the fmic still no turkey sound guess my wife got lucky with the car but my msp has no turkey sound she has the 03 i have the 3.5 who knows i will post the sound clips soon ..

msphawaii, was that you and your wife driving down ward ave on sunday??? I saw 2 msps, an 03 and 03.5 driving on ward... nice cars!!! let me know if you guys wanna cruise. i'm always down for a cruise.

Spool is unfortunately no longer doing business. There are a couple of intercooler options for the MSP. I can think of HiBoost, Ion, Circuit Sport, and Forge off the top of my head.

The HiBoost and Ion intercoolers are front mount, while the CS and Forge bolt right into the stock location (but they are much larger (thicker) than the stock IC).

Since the original poster didn't post a clip of a turkeyless MSP with a GReddy Type S, it's time to show off my setup once again.

Yeah I love that clip! Of course mine was just recorded with the crappy internal microphone of my camcorder...I didn't have my external mike (which is also crappy btw lol) to put in the engine bay.
