Hi, been looking to purchase a new vehicle, and have pretty much narrowed it down to the CX-5. For those of you with the i-activsense package, is it worth the extra $1500 in your opinion? What are the advantages or disadvantages of it, and do you use the features, or just end up disabling them, such as lane departure. Thanks

I'm in the UK and it cost me 800 when I got the car in September - so similar. Assume the package is the same with lane assist, smart braking, blind spot etc.
I had similar thoughts but ended up getting the package and leave it switched on. Some items take some getting used to but I'm fine with it now and have done 4000 miles (2500 when I drove across Spain and France as we don't have any long drives in the UK really).
Some of my logic was to do with safety (ie: I know how easy it is to feel drowsy at the wheel after a long day at work) and partly because I thought if I'm spending so much money on the car itself and keeping it for say 4 or 5 years, it made no sense to cut back on this package - and I was sure that in a month or a year I'd wish I'd got it.
First CX5 I've had - love it.

It seems like a pretty good deal for what you get. If I was in the market for '16 CX-5 I'd buy one with it.
I figured if I'm spending this much on a car, what's another thousand? While it might seem like fluff, and extra crap to break, it does give you peace of mind to know that it's a good amount of safety bits. Even if you are a cautious driver, every bit helps. No one is perfect. I love the radar cruise. The lane departure is annoying on windy tight roads, but you can shut it off easily.

Radar cruise control is one of the greatest features. I use mine all the time.
The only thing I keep off is the Lane Departure. I'm very happy I decided to get the option.

Even in a potential failed state of a tech item 10+ years out the car will still be drive-able. I'd buy it.

lol saved people from car accidents, those people please stay away from my car..
Sadly with so people texting and driving distracted, it's a good thing that tech has auto stop/ i Activsense.
It will become standard on more and more cars as years go by.
Also, nobody is perfect and tired drivers who are usually excellent drivers are not at the top of their game when tired and iActivsense can prevent collisions. Reading the forum posts, people who had iACTIVESENS have used it and it saved them from impacts.
I love the auto headlight dim. Did not think I would as I had it on a 83 town car and it did not work well but this one does. I use the radar cruise all the time in Atlanta traffic and on trips to south FL. I wish it did not apply the brakes so quickly when the car ahead slows but it is definitely safer. I leave lane departure on with a rumple sound and it trains me to stay in the middle of my lane and to use my turn signals as that turns it off for a few seconds when changing lanes. Always using your turn signals helps with the effectiveness of the blind spot monitoring which has saved my ass a few times as I first had a 2013 and logged over 50,000 miles.
Thank you for all of the replies. I only took a short test drive, limited on time, so I didn't get to test any of the features. Before I make the purchase, I will be taking a longer test drive so I can test them.
You all have convinced me to get the package. Seems well worth the money, and as was said, most of the features will start to become standard on new vehicles one day. Hopefully I can convince the dealer to throw in remote start for free. Thanks again

It has changed the way I drive! I drive on the highway 99% and I trust the radar cruise control 100%. As soon as I get on the road I set it to 80 and usually don't touch the brakes for 20 miles. It seems leave too much distance when set to 1 car length and I get cut off a lot by cars squeezing in my safe zone and then my car slams the brakes on to allow for the same distance each time. If there is a large gap my car will accelerate quickly to take up the gap. I leave extra car lengths when it is raining to allow for more safety and it beeps and blinks BRAKE when it thinks it can't slow fast enough or if it goes below 19mph. I leave the auto highbeams on all the time which doesn't allow me to blind someone. As long as you signal to turn, the mirrors will light up and and beep if it is not safe. The crosstraffic alert works well but isn't a backup sensor. As with the winter coming it doesn't seem that I will be able to use the auto cruise with snow and ice covering the front emblem and window sensor area.
I got the remote start installed, but it doesn't warm the seats or blow the air enough to warm the car and same for summer heat, it doesn't cool either, but maybe something is wrong with it.

The Red Light camera alert feature is just a function of the Navigation system, so it is available on any 2016 CX-5 to anyone who installs the GPS Card.
