GPS location on a 2012

Being left-handed, I would have chosen a suction cup mount on the sail panel window.

That's my second choice, but after using the GPS/CD slot mount for a few hundred miles I'm sticking with this placement.
Close enough to reach up and use the touchscreen without moving my elbow from the armrest.
Now just want to hardwire a power lead and run it through the dash vent so the cord isn't snaking around the shift console.
Sucks Mazda didn't spend like $1 more and put in a second power port....

I don't use GPS (besides an iPhone) but I thought you would place it for readability and out of the way, not within elbow reach?

The CD slot mount is nifty since who really uses them anymore.

I find myself using the GPS' touchscreen fairly often - zooming in/out mostly. Could do it easily enough with my left hand when I tried it out on the sail panel window, but the snaking the power cord across the steering column, coupled with no access by the passenger tipped the balance for me.

The suction cup mount that came with the unit still sees use, but only on flights when I have a window seat (my preferred) to have a personal "skymap" :)
