GPS Estimated Time of Arrival

After mostly city driving, over this past weekend I took a 100+ mile trip, and set the destination in the GPS. Initially the GPS estimated that this 2.5 hour trip would take 4 hours. In most other GPS units, the estimated time of arrival (ETA) recalculates frequently, based on your current speed and planned route. The GPS tracked the route and remaining distance just fine, but not the ETA (except for deducting elapsed time) until we got a few miles away from the programmed destination. Has anyone else encountered this, or found a way to overcome it?

Can't say I've had this problem. ETA invariably updates itself along the way.

Are you getting a good GPS signal when you drive around?

Sometimes it doesn't know the speed limit of a road and makes an assumption, so that has skewed my ETAs by ~10% before, but nothing like 1.5 hours.
