Ill try and make this as short as possible. Basically i need some information on whether or not you guys think im getting screwed majorly here.

Well about a month ago I was cruising down the highway and low and behold there was a freaking piece of metal. in the middle of the highway. Basically i had two options here, one i could have swerved and missed it and totally got killed, or the route i took and just try and hit it and pray for the best result.

Well to my misfortune this piece of metal hit directly into my oil pan puncturing it. i only drove maybe about a half a mile before pulling over. SO i bought a new oil pan and replaced it myself. (the dealership wanted $1050(fu)) Well i told you that story to tell you this story.

We all have that smoking issue and mine had just hit the roof. SO i took it in and they are now saying that they found little pieces of metal in my oil pan and that that itself has caused the shredding of my turbo seal and that mazda aint going to cover a thing and that not only is my car smoking but i need to replace the whole damn engine for $8000.

What do you guys think? Is that possible? These pieces of metal were seriously sand size pieces.

well i know that the turbo has an oil supply.
so i guess if there is metal debris in your motor oil, it would also effect your turbo.
i know that mazda doesn't cover 'road hazard' damages.

It's possible that a piece of metal from the impact circulated around a bit... IDK good luck.

You made one big mistake. Never do work on a car that is still under warranty. Had you not done that you would have a case and you may have even been able to claim it on your insurance. But since you did the work they will be able to say that you could have caused the problem. Not much you can do here man. But no one will touch it now I can promise you that.

Good luck with your fight. If the turbo is gone then just look for some of the KO4's that will be popping up in the near future, lots of people are upgrading to the bigger turbos now-adays.

Isn't this something that should be covered under your insurance? You struck something on the highway and damaged your car. It's no different than hitting a deer. Engine components are also covered in a collision.

Yes sadly I agree with Mazda not really having to cover it. Sounds like you should have called your insurance.

i say go to another dealer and dont tell them anything about the metal or the road hazard or the new oil pan.

just complain about smoking. see what happens. or maybe better, tell them you think the turbo is leaking oil or just get an oil change and see if they notice any debris.

i doubt this is in the truest sense your fault and i would rather see a major corporation screwed than an individual just because of some warranty bs.
that and im bitter from my run ins with mazda and warranties and poor to awful service.
good luck.

Worst. Advice. Ever.

Wouldnt small bits of metal be caught in your oil filter before it got to the turbo?

Thats the whole point of the filter.

I wouldn't bother with going to another dealer. I would bet your information from the first visit is already on the computers and tied to your VIN.

BULLSHI**. you need to have some other dealer look at this problem, they just dont want to help you out. i tell you boy, these dealers now-a-days want to rob you silly. why would you have little metal pieces if you pulled over after the damage to the oil pan? dont let them get you, fight this all the way!!!

Before you go in all fired up with rage and yelling like a jack*ss, take a deep breath and think about it. Yelling at anyone produces one result.... they shut down and stop listening to you. The become defensive and will not give you want you want.

1.) You have metal debris in your oil pan. They stated this debris cut the seals on your turbo.

a.) Ask them why the Mazda approved filter is allowing particles from your oil pan to get to your turbo.

b.) Ask them if they physically pulled the turbo and checked the seals. Where they shredded? If so did they find evidence of metallic debris on them to confirm their statement?

If they didnt pull the turbo and physically look at the seals, they are guessing. Their conclusions are not based on evidence.

You should state, if you want to charge me 8,000 dollars for a repair, I want proof to your statement. Pull the turbo infront of me and show me the damage to seals and prove it was metallic debris. On top of that, they have to prove that the debris they find is due to something you did. Otherwise, it could have come from anywhere in the engine.

Furthermore, if you have low milage on your car... there technically should be debris in your oil pan from normal engine break-in. Once again this debris should be in your oil pan. Thats where debris belongs! This way its removed during oil changes and caught by your filter.

Best of luck resolving your problem and remeber to keep a cool head.

Thanks for all the support and help guys. I guess now would be a good time to update everyone before this gets outta hand lol.

Well first off to start my seals were already bad, that has already been proven by the dozens upon dozens of MS6 owners with the smoking issue. Now i did indeed see the turbo seals and they were defiently shot. Badly shot for that matter. Now whether or not that has anything to do with the oil debris in the oil pan i dont know and niether do they for that matter. They can assume it came from the debris because i cant prove that it smoked prior to the whole collison. Bottom line i should have taken it in before i ever had that stupid collison.

Now on a better note. My dads best friend is a mechanic in a city just outside of mine. I took the car to him and he said no way in hell did the sand size pieces of metal he found able to do the damage the dealer was claiming. He said that the oil filter would catch any thing that would do that. He also said that after a few oil changes the metal would be minimal and close to nil.

So after i found all that out i gave the dealer a whole rash of s*** and i even printed up the whole thread on the smoking issue and i gave it to the manager guy to read. Which im sure he didnt but whatever they can really suck my balls.

So the dealer never helped me out even though its their gay turbo seal with the problem. And ultimately in the end i bought the ATP turbo and the CP-E standback engine management system and made everything work out for myself. =) so i thank the dealer for giving me pleanty of reason to convince my dad that i need to upgrade the turbo.

That one is real easy for a dealer. They'll just be like " we need 12hrs for daignosis if it's a factory defect warranty will cover it if not you need to" but it has to be approved by you for inspection. That's how the dealer I worked for was. If the techs found something that looked odd they'd do that.
