JL? Overpriced? Say it ain't so!! (confused)

the gotham g213 msrp is $7500.
the fathom f113 msrp is $3k for gloss black, $2800 for matte black.
the fathom f112 msrp is $2400 for gloss, $2200 for matte.

the drivers are based on the W7's, however the motors are rather different. they are much stronger in the home versions.

full range products are in the works over the next few years.

If those #'s are correct it should put JL inline with other high end audio brands. We are talking about a lot of low freq. sound here. The average home theatre listener would prob. never use these products to their full potential.
Amazing none the less (jerkit)

they certainly aren't for the average listener, but what high end is? i want to hear what they can do with some nice LOW pipe organ notes(uhm)

when you consider that the gotham g213 houses twin 13.5" subs that are as good or better than a W7, a 3.8 kilowatt amp, the enclosure, the controls, and all the other stuff that goes into that beast, i would consider it reasonably priced. high, but reasonable.

I just think they are trying to grow to fast. I can't recall any company that has been sucessful making this switch. Right now they are the Top dog so to speak and i think its making them overconfident.

yeah but they were top dog in audio 10 years ago as well, and this is before they did componets and amps. seems in general everything they come out with is well designed.

I agree but they usual;y take small steps and let things settle. They have been introducing alot of new things over the past 2 years and now with this I think they might be trying to get into to much of the market. Especialy with a company like Rockford making a comeback.

i can only guess that this has been in the works for years, knowing JL. i just hope that they keep the home and car audio in seperate "houses" so to speak. keep driving the car audio industry forward, and unleash their great products into the home audio market. while RF is making a comeback, there are more and more other companies that are dropping off a cliff:( as long as JL doesn't get too cocky like so many others, i think they'll be able to balance everything just fine. if not, it's going to be a sad day in the car audio realm when we have to say "JL was great, back in the day".

there was a time when that was said. seems the trend deals more on poularity then anything really. they really havnt let their quality level drop over the years, theyve just gone out of popularity and then come back into it.
