When I changed the oil on out CX-9, I took a sample of the oil and sent it off for analysis. I wanted to establish a baseline for a 3,000 mile interval with dino oil.
The dealer used Kendall GT 1 5W-20 when they did our free first oil change. I added 3 oz of Auto-Rx to help carry any break-in contaminants to the filter. The oil was run for a total of 2,770 miles. It's mostly highway driven with some stop and go.
I also posted it on www.bobistheoilguy.com for thoughts and opinions. The concern is the slight amount of anti-freeze detected in the sample. I called and spoke to one of the Blackstone techs and he thinks the antifreeze reading was a byproduct of the high silicon and sodium readings and not necessarily a leak. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I am taking it in on Monday to get the interior trim looked at and replaced. I'm also going to see if they can detect a possible leak. I do sometimes smell coolant like in the other thread, but I don't know if the two are related.
I'd hate to waste the Mobil 1 I just put in there, but I would like a fix if needed.
