Mazda 3s sedan, vel.red, fully loaded MSP 6 on order
Saturday 7/3 at 2:15 a.m. I was doing 84 in a 60. Didn't see the cop till the last second. He lights me up, I pull over...show him the license and insurance card...he goes "eh, 84 on the freeway is a bit fast huh?" goes back to the car...comes back a minute later and says " I see you haven't had a ticket in about 5 years, so I'm not gonna ruin your record....but SLOW IT DOWN" Nice! Got out of that one somehow! Then he goes "lemme guess...new car" Yes sir! I couldn't believe he didn't write me up for that...that would have been a rather hefty fine. Sorry if some of you haven't been that lucky in your 3. Just wanted to share!

wow...i got pulled over for screeching bad tires in the miata...supposedly going 40 in a 25. the cop had NO MERCY !

That's nice - you take your luck when you can get it. I was a little ticked at getting a ticket the first night of driving my 3, but hey...last year, a motorcycle cop neglected to come get me after he lasered me going about...90-95 in a 35, so it could be worse.

I think speed limits on highways are ridiculously slow in North America. Most cars can handle it, seriously. In many parts of Europe the speed limit on the highways is like 120-130 km/h. I dont even think people should be ticketed on highways unless they drive in a really unsteady, dangerous fashion. Swurving, cuttin-off etc...

Speed is safe if you have control and can handle it and if you are ready for what other bull s*** stunts other drivers may do on the road no matter what it is. I've never been close to ever causing an accident and I drive fast. But I respect all stop signs lights, signals etc... Just the speed limits I find ridiculous, It's just an excuse to give tickets and make money.

<----- 112.5 mph in a 55. I was 16 at the time, first ticket i ever got. The cop called me Mr. Leadfoot. Last year for my 25th b day I got a tattoo of a lead bar with checkered flags around it on my right foot. Some things just stick with ya

Wow, I drive that fast sometimes even faster, but I never got pulled over, how the hell does the cop even catch up at that speed?

may have to do with all these idiots trying to weave at maximum speed in their 7000lbs SUVs (pow)and pickups in this great country of ours. if we had only people driving fast sedans... may be someday they'll egovern cars by weight so people with small cars can go as fast they like

AH MAN, you have no clue how much I would LOVE for that to happen, and your right, too many damn SUV's on the road, Take the ford explorer for example, I dont see the point, it is huge and all, but when you sit inside it feels smaller than my Mazda 3. In fact it is smaller on the inside.

hehehe. You guys think you were scared listen to this one. Happened to me about 2 weeks ago while driving on Speedway. I had just come from the Mountain museum going about 65 n a 35 the entire way. As you are going back towards the freeway, you have to go up a huge wavy hill, and at the start of this hill is a 20-25 mph U turn to the left. I was going about 65 mpg and slowed down to about 55 for the turn. As I veer to the outside to cut into the turn, I see in the corner of my eye(soon to be RIGHT NEXT TO THE SIDE OF MY CAR) a BRAND NEW PATROL CAR!!!!! I honestly must have been going 50-55 mph IN THE TURN as i ALMOST HIT his car. I was amazded that our mirrors didn't hit.
So, of course he turns on the car and flys right up on my ass. Following my up the hill the entire way on my ass. (I was amzaed at how fast he caught up to me seeing as though I was hoping i could just keep flying up the hill and pull over somewhere to get away.) As we come to the top he lights em up and pulls me over. Comes up to the car slowly, looking at the car as he walks. Gets to me, " So, you practicing for competition or something?" Asks for my drivers lincese and registration. I asked him, after pleeding with him about the ticket, how the hell he caught up to me so fast.? He responded with a smile . . " Oh, this is one of our new patrol cars. Supercharged V8. We've been having problems with a lot of kids driving fast out here and they decided to put me out here for a week." After talking to him about his car, and poping our hoods for each other(this guy was also around 50-60 years old), he finally decided to let me off with a warning and tell me never to come back to the roads again . . at least for another week :)

Yeah, some people around here have bought old interceptors at auction (they sell them after they're decomissioned). There was one story about a kid in an interceptor doing a burnout competition with someone in a V8 camaro, the camaro went for about 100 feet, the interceptor went all the way down the street with the tires spinning until the kid let off the gas. They have a hell of a lot of power. . . even without forced induction.

65 in a 30MPH Work Zone
Drivers License not updated with current residence
No Front Plate

----

Told the cop I had no excuses, was just having a bad day at work and was trying to blow off some steam on my lunch break.

Got warnings on the speed and License, and only got a fix-it ticket on the front plate.
