Got my first ticket today

I was driving back from Ohio. I was on 675 around Dayton. I was citated for 82 in a 65.

Police are getting sneaky.

About 2 minutes befor I was waved over, I saw a plane in the air looping around. In the back of mind I though it could be clocking people. I dismissed that notion. I wish I didn't now. They use a "calibrated" stopwatch and do time intervals over a quarter mile. Then the plane follow the car until the nice State Trooper waves you over about a half mile ahead. There had to be half a dozen trooper there, all with someone pulled over!

Lesson: Trust you gut intincts!

all i can say is "Congratulations" welcome to the club...youd think that would be expensive, using planes to catch speeders, but it must work out in their favor

the fine is only 96 bucks...which is not too bad for 17 over the limit. plus since i was out of state, they dont report to insurance...

thats why in most places there are signs:
"Aerial Patrol" or such
or you see HUGE white lines running from the side of the highway to the other side. Usually use helicopters in more hilly areas or places where there isn't room for a median turn around or such.

also: in many places cops lay 5-10 cars behind them and look for cars that are driving irradically (switching lanes frequently, etc) officers also will pace them and try to catch up to see how fast they are going, and the driver WONT HAVE A CLUE AT ALL.

cops are sneaky
the trick is to be as sneaky as they are, but on a highway there aren't many places to go :(

I got a ticket about 2 weeks back...76 in a 55. Fine is gonna be $146, which i can live with i guess...You wanna know what pisses me off though?? He had someone pulled over going the opposite direction of me...About 2-3 miles down the road, I see him coming up behind me. He lights me up. When he pulls me over, he asks, "do you know why I pulled you over?" Obviously I was speeding, but it was a very desolate country road....Anyways, he sorta changes his mind on the question, and instead asks, "You thought it was pretty funny that I had that guy pulled over back there, huh?" I said, "No, Why would I think that??" He replies, "well, I saw you laughing as you drove past me":wtf: I was like, "Am I not allowed to laugh in my own car??" ( I had someone with me, and we were joking about the BOV sound, actually, that's why i was speeding, shifting through the gears) "Do you have any idea how fast you were going??...And remember, honesty always pays off."I said," That depends on when you got behind me...maybe75-80??" He says, " I had you going 76mph"...Blah, blah, blah...He comes back with the ticket...75+ in a 55, again...:wtf: What a prick...I don't even know why I was polite to him...

I saw no signs which indicated that the police where using aerial patrol, nor were there any "timing lines" across the interstate. I know what the timing lines look like. If i had seen them I would have put that together with the plane I saw. O well.

The officer was very polite. I am of the mindset that if you treat the officer with respect, you'll get the same treatment.

PS: I guess I can not boast about never having a ticket. grr...

absolutely. treat me good, i do the same to you.

tell me the truth, chances are i'll let you go.

DONT MAKE UP AND EXCUSE. TICKET FOR EXACLTY WHAT U WERE DOING OVER. I hate that.

plus since i was out of state, they dont report to insurance...

I dunno about that..i think that's a myth.. Maybe up there they won't report out of state....but I got a ticket in Arizona once and my insurance in Cali knew about it. But I went to traffic school and got it off my record.

I live in oregon and what sucks about that is if you get a ticket they dont have any "driving school" to take and remove it from your record. It stays on it for 3 years, only another year and my ticket and accident is off my record. In the city I live in if your found liable for an accident you get a ticket, so you get double screwed.

Just about 2 months ago I was going down I-5 to Medford, OR and this gold alero flys past me(I was doing 76, had cruise control set) like I was standing still, and ALMOST hits me an a 18-wheeler I was about to pass, if I had to estimate the distance between his rear bumber and the front bumber of my F-150 when he cut me off I would say less than a foot. Well when he cut me off I slammed on my breaks(so I wouldnt hit him) and he still barely sqeezed by. Well about 1/4 mile up the road I see a cop car come flying up towards me, didnt have lights on, and I am thinking "he's gonna go get that sob" so I get into the right lane, and the cop gets behind me and lights em up! I am like WTF!

Ok, before I take this any further I have a huge respect for cops, my whole family is in law enforcement and I was envolved as a cadet for 4 and a half years.

So back to the story. I pull over and roll down the passenger side window, cause that is they side they come up to when on an FWY/HWY and my sister is with me. He walks up and goes "Evening, you know why I pulled you over?" and I said "Honestly I dont." he goes "You were going pretty fast, and I was gonna let ya off but decided not to when you slammed on your breaks to avoid hitting that car." ok at this point I am thinking WTF. I know for a fact from PERSONAL experience that if he seen that alero he should have been on its ass. Well I am like "Yea, I hit my breaks pretty hard cause the guy almost hit me, if I didn't there would have been a MAJOR accident" he goes "Yea, I seen em cut ya off...you know how fast you were going?" I said "Yea, I know exactly how fast I was going, I had my cruise control set at 76 mph." he goes, "Nope! You were doing 81+" I was like "Well than my speedometer is off or you hit something else with your laser.", lasers are what they use in Oregon. So at this piont I am pretty pissed, not only did this asshole(which he was being) see the moron in the alero cut me off and almost cause an accident he is telling me I am going way faster than what I was.

So at this point he goes, let me see your driver license regestration and insurance card. Now I had just bought the truck like MAYBE a week before this, if that. So I didnt have a registration card, just the proof of sale/purchcase u get from the dealer, and I had no insurance card...hadn't come for the truck yet. Now I am 19 years old and driving a 1998 F-140 4x4 XLT FULLY LOADED...a nice rig for someone my age. Well the cop take my license I hand him the proof of purchase/sale, he looks at me and goes "This your truck?" and I said yea. Than he goes "Well, I have never seen this type of paper before so I am gonna have to double check on that." ok he has the dealer slip saying the truck was sold to ME, and is in MY NAME but he didnt believe me. So he looks at my sister, looks at me, and goes...I am gonna go wright you a ticket and make sure this is your truck." and walks off.

Comes back, gives me a $197 ticket, hands me my papers, and is like "Have a nice night, and drive better." so I am still keeping my cool and I am like "Thanks, you too." and my sister as the cop goes back to his car leans out the window, and she is pissed at this point, yells "Yea you have a nice night too asshole, and dont get shot!!"....

Well I pleaded not guilty and now have a court date, I hope he doesnt show and it gets dropped, cause this guy is a prick and makes law enforcement look bad.

sorry.. i just found the busted spelling funny to read in that situation! :)

too bad on your ticket..

AndrewF150:

That cop sounds like the biggest ass hole alive..what a prick...why didnt he go after alero..was he half-retarded or something?

I got a ticket ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP! 18 miles on the car..... now at 2500 and still happy, at least he only wrote me for not having my documentation (it was in my wife's car - and she took a separate route home....)

I was doing 97 in 55 and the cop in the north bound lane must have clocked me and radioed ahead to the other cop about 1/4 mile south of me and he pulls me over. Im thinking s***... since i just lost my job, this sucks. Any way he says that I was going 97 in a 55 I say that I knew i was speeding but didnt know i was going that fast. And that i had no excuse for driving with my head up my ass. He thanked me for my honesty and walked away and came back with my ticket for speeding but not for doing 97 it was for around like 65 or so and said dont try to fight this or my orig speed would be reinstated and i would lose my license automaticaly for doing 30 over the limit. He said that he`ll get @ 20 more speeders with all kinds of excusses and they`ll get no break.
