was the grand am a gt ram air....my friend has one but its an automatic......the auto tranny's suck ass and i riped him all over the road when i had a p5.....and thats a 170 hp vs. a 130 hp. I haven't tried the mp3 out yet since its winter and i have my winter tires on.

soma, no it wasnt a gt, or i dont think it was anyways. it definately didnt have ram air. and linux, i hope it was a 318, actually i am pretty sure it was.

They probably lost because they were too busy laughing at the fact that someone in a wagon was trying to race them.(rofl)

(lol) (lol) (lol)

In the words of Nelson Munce HA! HA!

I gotta give you props man!!Racing the Pro5 takes guts man.OK,OK I know it's got a lot of torque to pull its 2700 lbs,but unless you put NOS,supercharger on it or lighten it, it will surely lose to...let's say a typical rice rocket like a Civic or Celica.

Depends on the mods of the Civic, I personally just claim by first 2 victim tonight, first one is my friend's 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage (no brainer on this one) and the second one is a lowered EG6 Civic (92-95 hatchbacks) both stopped at a light, he revved and tried to show off to his girlfriend that he will blow a station wagon away, but nope! Not gonna happen with me! I managed to spin my wheels from 2,500 all the way to 5,200rpm, by the time I'm 4,500rpm in my 2nd gear he is always in my rear view mirror! He got embrassed (I think) and slowed down, and found himself an intersection and hide himself! ho ho ho!!!

The best part is I got my Mirage friend who can testify this as well, he was behind us and watched the whole show, then he is pretty impress by what this Mazda wagon can do. (BTW I'm very impressed myself...)

One thing though, I'm starting to dislike the fact that the wheel spin too much in this case, will a performance spring with a higher spring rate (?) do the trick or is this the tire issue???

where is this stated 130 horsepower on the P5? stock? O.K. maybe just maybe its not WHP, because its more like 110 or so. When I dyned my MP3 the first time I had A baseline of 111 I think ( check the INJEN website, they have my dyno stock and with their CAI.) I have intake/exhaust cams, custum 2.5 inch exhaust, no 2nd cat., Denso plugs, sparko wires, Injen CAI, and tri-point adjustable cam gears. My highest dyno was 139 to the wheels. Not sure what the torque was, don't have the sheets anymore. By far not worth it. Yeah I love the car, but damm gimme some POWER for my money.

Had my first real run-in tonight also!! (besides me and friends playing around)

It was a 2002-2003 Civic. bodykit, lowered, aluminum wing, intake, exhaust. We went from a 60 roll, i pulled him pretty well. Maybe 2 cars by 90. Then i shut it down. He came back up and i punched it in 5th at about 80 and stopped his pull and gained about a car to 100. All I have is an APC filter i got at AutoZone for $20 and a removed MAF screen.

Speaking of lightening. Are there any specific areas that this may occur? Given the AC, powersteering etc... But anything else hidden somehwere?

LOL

Nelson: "HA HA You're mom's in JAIL!"

Bart: "So's yours."

Nelson: "Oh...Yeah. Let's go play!"

or something like that...

ok i am a bit confused. this is only a question though. when i posted some pics of my strut bar all hell broke out because supposedly the stock one was soo much stronger than the one i have???? anyways, when i posted back asking them why it mattered because the p5 is a wagon and will never be fast, or in my case i dont have the smack it would take to make it fast, and again all hell broke loose. so i need some explanation. is it ok to race the wagon, i have heard both ways????? oh well

hey no1stunna, I am no expert but this is what I think about our p5 racings...

Sometimes bodystyle does matter, but most of the time it's what's under the hood that does. Adding to the complicated equation are the factor or weight distribution, suspension and others I can't name all. Our P5 may look slow in terms of a station wagon form, but it's also by no means heavy. Mazda also did an excellent suspension job in this car. In comarision to the same class Matrix (heavier, less torque), VW Golf (2.0 115hp one), Civics (SOHC vs. our DOHC, less hp) is quite competitive.

In terms of bodystyle the F-150 Lightning has a supercharged V8 with almost 400hp, BMW M5 has 400hp stock, Mercedes ML55 AMG.... you name it, so I think that's more in a race-able car then it's look.

Also in your case the stunt bar you changed will probably changed the dynamic of the suspension setup, I can't be sure if yours is worst or better, but it doesn't really matter in terms of the fast or not issue, what matter in this case will be your conering characteristic. Again I can't be sure if it will get better or worst, but it definitely make somewhat of a different when you coner your P5 hard...

Oh oh oh, almost forgot, yes it is ok to race the wagon, in fact this is what I am planning to do, race my P5 hehehe.... you just have to know your limit when racing people. Don't bother revving your engine with a GTI or M3...

So a WRX wagon is a joke too huh? :wtf: nOt!

I did something for the first time tonght too with my mp3. I chirpped going into second gear. I've never done that before with this car. Maybe cause I had cause I had snow tires on and 16 inch wheels as opposed to the stock wheels/tires but I was all excited. Well later guys.

yea, i got my new clutch, it chirped, well hopped going into second, i was like WHOA!!!!!, now all i need is that turbo....

well i always make sure i know what i am racing, most hondas i wont race, because most hondas and older integras in my area are doing like b16 swaps. our dohc against a vtec, dont think so. but besides that, i have to go off what little i know about other cars. if i think i have a chance ill race it. oh well, the heck what everyone else thinks. right????????????????????????
