Got Explanation?

Hi:

I have encountered really weired problem. I have Mazda 1997 Protege DX manual transmission and here is how to reproduce the problem:

1. You should drive on up heal (on 2, 3, 4, 5 gear).
2. While the stick is on the gear just press the clutch pedal (i.e. release the clutch) without touching the stick.
3. Than release the clutch pedal - we are still on the same gear.
4. Press the gaz pedal

Result is that the engine is roaring (running fast) but the clutch did not engage. If I switch to different gear and put back to the original one everything seems to be ok. And this is happenign only on upheal.

Got Explanation?(uhm)

The clutch disk could be ok, but a worn pressure plate can cause slippage. What kind of trans fluid are you running?

Well you got me here - do not really know. Additionally to the story I could say that I had to leave the car for 1 month not driven - after that this started to happen.
