Paying too much?? It's only because of being in a war zone you get haz duty pay and tax free benefits. The reason it seems they have so much money is becuase they don't have much to spend it on. Serving in a war zone means your life is 24/7 based on the mission. No getting off work and going to the movies or out to dinner. Your meals are free so basically all your earned money just goes and builds up in your bank account. I have trouble saving money, but serving in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom were the best thing for my pocketbook because I never spent a dime for 10 months. Now that I live back in the States and go to college I don't have the money to throw around unless I work a second job.

When I was stationed overseas I spent my money on a 95 Acura Integra, right hand drive. That car was amazing and brand new (at the time since we're talking about almost 10 years ago). Couldn't bring it back with me, so I sold it before I left. Then I had enough STILL to put $5k+ on a downpayment for a brand new Ford Ranger Ext. Cab with $100 payments for 4 yrs. I still had money set aside for a plane ticket, vacation and spending loot and other things. Not much to do when your stationed outside the U.S. except go on ops and save up.

Let me make something clear: the military does NOT pay well and you get your ass shot off for fighting for ungrateful people. The only reason I had money set aside is because I was smart on my spending and being overseas, you get a different rate of pay. If you go on missions, you get hazard pay also. Does this make you a millionare? No, BUT it helps. About the hookers, YES some military men spend their money on them or on strippers, but you would be lonely and horny too at 19 years old and in a country where it's mostly legal. Don't be jealous if you can't get none here or get arrested for trying to do the same thing. :p Also, you're talking about people who get pop shots taken at them on a constant basis. You're adreneline and testastarone is pumping 24/7. You need a relief and there is not much to do outside of your base. (when you're in the states, You're a foreigner in a foreign land with people that hate you and fighting for a country that says "we're paying you guys too much" to put up with the bulls*** of getting pop shots at you every other day. The next time someone walks out of their "cushy" office, gets into their Mazda that they love, gets home and kisses their loved one all without ONE PERSON trying to take your life or spitting on you, THEN thats a good day. Military men serving overseas good day consists of, reading a scripture from the Bible in case 'today is the day', receiving a letter from home, finding a bag of m&m's that isn't outdated in your MRE bag, no blisters and getting at least 3 hours of sleep before it's your turn to patrol the area again.

And if the guy wants to spend money on parts that someone else doesnt like, do we all have to be so rude about it? I dont have the money to spend on the parts he wants and I'm a bit jealous... *sniff, sniff*, BUT it's his damn money. You don't see people saying, "oh, what a dumb ass... that guy is spending good money on Addidas shoes for his kid that he will just outgrow." There's no difference. He earned his money, let him spend it the way he wants to. Geez guys.
