My wife's 5 is waiting for a replacement rear door lock mech and I have a CX-7 loaner. Man Mazda has to stop making such addictive cars. I'm already buying a MS3 in a couple of months but the CX-7 is starting to make me want to trade in the 5 as well. Damn you Mazda!
It is a Touring Glaxy Grey with leather (which is a little nicer than my 3S) and FWD and we've been driving it since Saturday. The first thing she said was "this has a much nicer interior than my 5". I drove it on Saturday and Sunday and it's not only a very pleasant long-distance cruiser but that DISI engine is so smooth and responsive. I can only imagine how much I'm going to like it in the MS3. It was the FWD version so I'm wondering if the 4WD version is less responsive due to the extra weight. All I had to do was press on the accelerator and it went. Didn't sense any turbo lag and it handled like it was on rails. Taking offramps at 60 was easy as pie.
The only problem is that my son loves the 5's reclining rear captains chairs and I don't think any of the CX-7's have a reclining rear seat option, just folding for extra cargo. So that maybe a deal-breaker. (burnout)
