Got a 1974 RX4 Coupe UNRESTORED & NEW

Hello,
I should have some better pictures tomorrow as I will be flying out to the car for a final visit before transport and payment.
I will bring my camera this time. Provided the weather is nice I will grab as many shots I can in the little time I have. I land at 10am must grab a car rental, drive the 1 hour to her house, and then drive the 1 hour back. My flight home is at 1pm. This leaving me only 30 mins to 1 hour with her depending on traffic and me not getting lost again. So look for piics tomorrow.

Rear End Pic

Here is a rear end pic and a couple others. I have also added some pictures to my first post.
It turns out that (according to her) this was the actual car used in 1974 at the Detroit Auto Show to unvail the RX4 to North America. Her and her husband bought it at the show and it was delivered afterwards to thier local Mazda Dealer in thier little twon 3 hours north of Detroit in Canada. If anyone has any old pictures of that show lieing around I love to see them.

Thanks, I will use her but she will be a regular nice day driver only during my summer months. I have a regular daily driver (2004 Civic) so I don't plan on letting her see rain either-sunny days only and not all of them at that. I live in Canada so she will also be stored between October through to March/April months.

Very nice find, hope you will be very happy with this car. What about replacement parts for routine preventive maintenance? Brakes for example, would it be hard to find some new for a car of that age? I know nothing about getting parts for cars that old so I am asking in order to further educate myself.

I see you are based in Mtl, Qc. Funny, thats where I live as well.
As for parts, I am not sure. It will be my third classic but I have never had one this rare. I am quickly learnig that this car is more rare in the Americas than I expected. From my recent research it looks like there are many parts to be found in Australia as the car is very well known there and had a good production run. Otherwise the place I would most use for help in finding parts is this forum and others like it around the world. If you are curious to see an excellent example of a forum and the way it aids vintage owners you may want to check out the "Yahoo Forum" created for the Alfa Romeo "Montreal" model. Its hosted by a gentleman named Bruce and I have never seen a better source of information related to any one thing more than this one. Members actually join together to place group orders in large numbers in order to be able to custom manufacture OEM duplicate parts that are needed by members. Most recently brake parts.
I will keep this forum appraised of my baby and its life once I finally get it here and start driving her. I wont have her here until I return from holidays at the end of August.

WOW!!! I just parted with my 1974 rx-4 wagon, 93 rx7tt, and 83 limited edition gsl about 3yrs ago before I made the move from fl to ma......but that is a sweet car...

If you ask me you sold too much of you collection. You should have ketp at least one - your RX4 Wagon or 83 GSL limited.

I've own every edition of an rx7 there has been...but my wife had complications with the pregnancy...It made my mind up for me...

I hope all is well with you and your wife and baby now. My wife and I had our first 4 months ago.
This is my second Rotary RX. I owned a 1990 RX7 Turbo II that I bought used back in 1995. I have always longed for another Rotary. Seeing as how I have been on a vintage car kick these past few years this find seemed to be a natural match for me and a perfect fit. I will be selling off my current collection, a 1976 Corvette and problably my 1974 Alfa GTV2000.
I will keep this forum posted on my RX's life as it progresses. I don't think the car will need anything except a wash (not really needing a wax) and a tune up. As for parts I don't have any resources as of yet and hope that these forums will provide me with the aid I may need in the future. I have noticed that there seems to be alot of information and parts available out of Australia. All early RX's were and still are quite popular there.
Hopefully you will be able to have another RX if you so desire and I wish your family well.

Thanks for the note. I will be cleaning what little there to do with a fine tooth comb but will keep everything original. What sucks at this point is that I was looking for a driver and the more I look into this car the more it seams that I should not use it regularly. By all means I am not complaining as I am extreamly happy with my now lucky find.
