Google Earth road courses

oh yes... it has a s*** load of elevation changes... I nearly made PDHAudio83 crap his panties when I took his car on it right after the first turbo install. lol

its my favorite local road. and that one really tight 180deg turn is a BIG drop in elevation. You gotta be careful on that one. and as another bonus, its all BRAND NEW pavement (thumb)

Just to keep you guys posted. I've been doing this on my spare time. So bare with me it might take a little while as i am fairly busy with work and other events.

I'm currently using MS SQLserver + IIS + my laptop to do this. Sooner or later I'm going to wait to migrate to a live server (which = $$$).

It is still in development.

right now i'm still working out bugs on the zooming its really weird and i'm having problems with my SQL select statement based on the zoom level. i'm trying not loading every road people marked and taking 10 mins to load a damn map.

Next is to be able to allow you to add routes by text like google map directions.

and finallly allow you to add routes by clicking with the mouse. Really hard. a lot of math involved.

a few concerns that i have.
1. I want this to be invited member only so that way we don't have cops showing up at great routes.
2. Allow for comments on routes.
3. the development server issues.

why not use mysql and php/apache? probably less resource intensive and it wont cost a s*** ton to get a server with that stuff installed.

i do find what youre doing interesting though, be sure to keep us posted

because i don't have a linux box or a server.
My laptop has MS Sqlserver already and IIS is free (ASP). So i'm going to use that for testing.

Besides ASP to PHP translation is very simple and most of the coding is done in javascipting anyways. so the onlything that really matters is calcuation which can be done by PHP or ASP.

It just comes down to my resources and what is free and what would cost me money.

aye. you do know that you can run php, apache, and mysql on windows, right? i run a windows server box with mysql, PHP and IIS.

ya but i have to install it. This is already setup

i wonder if we can see my car in the canyons....? it's bright enough ;)

here's my local fun-runs...

The park(1st pic) is the best place...
There's usually no one around.. and the road can be "closed off" simply by shutting the gate..
Once you get to the end, it's a nice 180 back to the gate.
I dont run on the streets anymore due to traffic/pedestrians.(2nd pic)
note: you can see the park in the top right-hand corner :)
The last 2 are the autox parking lots..
