It's been a good run but I just traded in my 2009 Mazda CX-9 Touring for a 2015 Dodge Durango Limited. Just made the trade yesterday and I'm happy with the purchase but miss the Mazda already. The CX-9 was a great car. I believe it was best in class when I bought it. It has fallen behind in some areas but after scouring the market again, I would say that the CX-9 is still the best handling car in the segment. The Durango also drives pretty well but steering feel is non-existent on center and the ride less firm without being much more comfortable.
I am hopeful that the new CX-9 will be even better but I make a point of not buying cars in their first year of production and I just couldn't hold out another year with my old CX-9 without putting a lot of money into it. It needed new tires and a battery but more importantly it was ready for some more major work as well. The front right bearing had been making some pretty awful droning noises and would need to be replaced and a faulty drivers side window switch was indicating some minor electrical issues too. This car had 112,000 miles on it so none of this is terribly surprising. The car was very reliable until some of this stuff started cropping up after 100,000.
I've really appreciated the posts and comments in this forum. I've enjoyed reading everybody's opinions and getting advice on everything from roof racks to tow hitches to wiper blades. Thank you all and continue to enjoy your cars.
