Good sale at discount tire through the weekend

Some serious discounts can be had this weekend at discount tire direct. I just ordered a setup for the miata (lightspeed/comp2) and managed $235 in rebates, plus no interest for 6 mos. For slightly more than it'd cost for just tires and mounting I got a complete setup. Plus once I sell the stock setup, net cost will be even less than if I just put tires on the stock wheels.

The rebates don't look all that much better than usual. The stuff I saw was $75 off a set of four wheels or tires, and I usually see $50 as an instant rebate. The rest of the savings I assume came because you used a CarCareOne card? Those rebates are usually there, as well. Still I guess you could save $50+ this weekend, depending on what you get and assuming you're buying wheels and tires. Not enough to tempt me, though. My wife would kill me if I did that right now.

Like I said above, I saved $235...quite a bit more than 50. $130 off on tires, $105 on wheels. And yes I did sign up for the credit card, and doing so gives me 6 mos of no interest. This way if I can get the miata ready in time for the track day I signed up for, I won't have to pull the wheelset off my 2. Without the credit card it would've been $175 saved, still pretty good. Also when buying tires and wheels together (from most mail-order places) you save on mounting, balancing, and taxes (another 70-80 dollars).

I would've been happier if they had the sport comp 2 available in a 205/50, or if there was a stickier option available for under 100. I bought kuhmo MX's from tire rack a couple years ago for $86 each...now they are well over 100 in the same size.

Yeah, all good points. I guess the point I was trying to make is that you can usually save $160 or so off a set of wheels and tires. This is definitely a better deal, and I have no idea why I felt the need to come on here and disparage your fine post, but the deal is good enough to make me have to jump on it right now. A number of others may be in a better position to benefit. So, just chalk my comment up to being bored and maybe a little grumpy that I can't buy new wheels yet.

No worries. The good thing about waiting is there's always the odd set of 6UL's or or the like that will come up for a great deal second hand. That was my original plan...but I don't have much patience.
