So I was reading through the thread and here are the Serious and Semi-Serious suggestions so far. From what I gather we decided that it's Protege Specific so those names are listed first but I gathered the other names too at the bottom. On a personal note my favorites thus far are Protegefest and National Protege Showoff

Protege Specific:
Protegestock
Protofest
Protegefest
National Protege Showoff
AllProtegeFest
NAPCOM 2003 (North American Proteges - California Owner's Meet)
MONAPO 2003 (Meeting Of North American Protege Owners)
PONAM 2003 (Protege Owners of North America Meet)
CAMPO 2003 (California Association of Mazda Protege Owners)
NAMPOM 2003 (North American Mazda Protege Owners Meet)
ENAPO 2003 (Exposition of North Ameican Protege Owners)
NAPOE 2003 (North American Protege Exposition)
north american mazda protege enthusiest's gathering (NAMPEG)

Not Protege Specific:
Mazdashowcase
Mazdafest
Mazda Mayhem
Mazdapalooza
M-Spot
Mazda Enthusiasts Event (M.E.E.)
Mazda Expo
MazdaX (Mazda Xtreme)
Mazda Revolution
Mazda Showoff
Mazda Bash

Hey I like MazdaX. Its kind of catchy to me, but what the hell do i know. I wanted mazdatron.

Just an after thought. What about ProEv (Protege Evolution) celebrating the evolution of our cars from stock to mild mods to extream mods.

you all forget the one word that makes all of our cars the same, and covers all generations, from anywhere in the world, all variants of our beloved Protege..

"Familia"
might as well use a universal and cool name.. remember. our cars are _family_ oriented, hence our four doors (323 BG excluded, but not a protege anyways). it's the name mazda originally envisioned for our generations.. and it would pay homage to that.
personally, i think this is THE way to go, and the title should include Familia.... it should NOT use mazda by itself, as it's a Familia-specific event.. and should not use the word "protege" as not all of the cars are specifically just a "Protege".. (anyone say "mp3"? there is no Mazda Protege MP3, it was a Mazda MP3).. do we want to exclude MP3's from coming? i'd think not..

Familia is what we are.. Familia is what our community is about.
Familia (translated from spanish, means "family") is what this group is... it's just so utterly perfect to use...

how bout

Familiafest?

YES I LIKE IT

It sounds too JDM. Whenever people look at my car they can't even figure out it's a Protege and they think..."what the hell is a familia?"

It is a good idea, but like I said too JDM. Maybe we could have a "Familia" area within the Protegefest (or whatever we decide upon for a name).

I also like the Idea of keeping protege or pro in the name, because, like sevenstock, we are primarily showing proteges, but others can attend and eventually show.

Even at sevenstock there were some rx-3's, rx-8's, and rotary trucks. Although it was an rx-7 event, it has turned into a rotary event.

I also don't like the sound of anything being Extreme either. It makes it sound like HIN or some other high roller car show. The names with all the accronyms sounds a little too much too. I think we should keep it simple.

All Proteges / 323s are Familias. Familia would also encompass the older 323s / GLCs.

What you drive is actually a ninth generation Familia. I drive a seventh gen. It doesn't have to do with "JDM."

You have a point about name recognition though, it would be good to advertise with a big byline stating that it's for Proteges.

sounds too JDM?
dude. you drive a JAPANESE car. wtf. maybe we should call it "chevy fest".. that american enough?
[/endbash]

it's not about Proteges, it's about Familia class vehicles.

as for a "familia" area within "protegefest", that would encompass EVERYONE. your car is a Familia vehicle too.
nobody is going to be able to "show" but familia class cars. we established that. if you only want Proteges to show, then that keeps the mp3 out. if you put Protege in the name, then you exclude MP3's by name.

and as i said, we don't want to do that, now do we.
