First of all let me thank Kain for pointing me to Brown Mazda in Fairfax, Va.
Let me first give a little history. The car was manufactured in Mar of 2007 and picked up with 23 miles on the odometer in June of that year. It was love at first shift! The car was purchased in Manchester, CT and the first cold spell gave up the "boost cut" ghost. I took it to New London Mazda (2 visits)and they could not reproduce the problem.
Warm weather came and car was great again. I relocated back to VA and experienced the same once it got colder. Took it to Casey Mazda in Newport News, VA twice. Probably the worst stealership experience EVER! I was never treated with such disregard in my life, and I am kinda old. I did discuss my issues with Britt Mazda in Fredericksburg, VA but never took it in because I knew that the warm weather would never reveal the problem.
Kain, via this forum, was gracious enough to direct me to Brown's Mazda in Fairfax. I drove up there and requested to speak to the service manager, Gary. I talked with him for 30-45 minutes about the issue's I have had with the car AND Mazda dealership's. I also discussed everything going on with aftermarket vendors and what they were doing to also fix this issue. I told him what mod's I had done (Cobb SRI, Forge BPV and Boost Gauge) and he recommended returning it to stock (except gauge) prior to drop off. He also requested that I write everything down so that they have my comments when working the issue's. This is what I gave him concerning the "Boost Cut":
-Loss of power when accelerating when 60 deg or below (atmospheric temp). The car is never started and driven in these conditions unless already at operating temps. It is always warmed up prior to driving. What occurs:
o When accelerating, boost pressure will build to approx. 5psi (max) then boost cuts and gauge reads 2-4 inches of vacuum. There is no change in pedal position when this occurs. Car can be downshifted and then, boost might build again (85% of the time).
o This has happened on the Interstate in 6th gear. Release of gas pedal and reapplication will not change it. Downshifting will bring boost back.
o The car will sometimes stutter violently when this occurs. Have received a “Check Engine” light only once during this occurrence. This is stated on invoice dated 08/24/07.
o Do not know if this is possibly related to TSB 01-022/08 (copy attached).
I also attached every TSB and service invoice I had for the car. I also had the intermittent smoking turbo. Well, they ended up replacing the O2 Sensor, and Turbo. He drove the car after the service and experienced the cut when cold. After he had driven it to operating temp, he felt that it was running fine. He was about to pull back into the dealership when he got the cut again.
So, she went back under the knife and they replaced the CDFP.The TSB for this had not been done yet. He said there was a flash done, but it did not show up on the invoice and I am going to call him about this.
I have had the car for 3 days now (mods back on the car that night) and have not had one single issue of cut and we all know what the temps have been.
The customer service at Brown's was better than I have experienced in a long time and based on the that and my cars performance, I do recommend them.
