Good, but frustrating weekend at SE Divisional

Resa and I got back from the SE Divisional at Gainesville this afternoon. She won DSL, I came in 3rd in DS. By 0.001 sec... All because of poor driving Saturday during the first day. I was in third after saturday, .6 sec out of the lead, and .2 out of 2nd. I just never took full advantage of the course, and my car's strengths...

On Sunday, I had DS FTD, so I know I can hang with the other fast drivers... especially since I was on old Kumhos and they were on HOOSIERs!!!! I was able to close to .001 off the 2nd place car, and I was the only guy to beat the DS winner today, but it just wasn't enough.

I'm not real upset, though, since the winner was Gary Meredith who has trophied at Nationals in the past, and 2nd place, Al Aberson, has also done well nationally. I am confident that I would have won outright if I wasn't cheap, and I had Hoosiers. Maybe in the fall... If only I could make it to Topeka this year :(

It was good to meet another one of the gang: Kevin (kcbhiw) was there, so it was great to put a face to the name... I'm looking forward to the next event we both make it to, it was fun.

When i get a chance, I'll make a couple vids of the 2 courses and post them up.

Post results when they come up. And do something with that damn website. Your domain name cost me $5 and you haven't used the damn thing yet. Stinking stock class racers.

Congrats to you and Resa. It was certainly nice to meet you guys this weekend.

Unfortunately, the Miata didn't fare as well as Andy's car. I placed overall 7/9 for the weekend. Had I had better tires for Saturday's half, I'd have had an overall better placement. I swapped on good Hoosiers for Sunday's half and did much better (6 seconds off the leader Sat. and 2 seconds off the leader Sun.). Besides, Miata's don't put up much of a fight anyway when they're head to head with an MR2.

When the pics are posted of the MSP (if they ever are), I'll link them here.

:p

Thanks for reminding me... I'll make it up to you before my own summer fun begins...

Like I said above, 3rd in class, by .001, .663 back from the front. Right now, I really wish I'd had Hoosiers...

I PAXed 15th, tied with Al in the IS300, who beat me by that slimmest of possible margins...

Nice drive on Sunday! On old Victoracers? Sheesh, there's hope for the MSP yet! Too bad about Topeka. Have you looked into a ride with someone else at Topeka, so you can just fly in and drive? Know anyone from the Bay area who's going? Sorry, I'm not going this year, otherwise I'd offer you a ride myself.

Alas it's not just the distance: I'll probably be at sea the week of Nationals...

Just try to talk the navy into parking that sub in one of Topeka's many fine ocean side ports for the week.

(silly)

Hell, I'll attend if they can pull that one off. hehe

I can't go into any kind of specific detail, but it's pretty certain I'll be out... :(

I'd love to see them TRY and moor an 18,000 ton, 560 foot long sub anywhere near Topeka... :)
