Resa and I got back from the SE Divisional at Gainesville this afternoon. She won DSL, I came in 3rd in DS. By 0.001 sec... All because of poor driving Saturday during the first day. I was in third after saturday, .6 sec out of the lead, and .2 out of 2nd. I just never took full advantage of the course, and my car's strengths...
On Sunday, I had DS FTD, so I know I can hang with the other fast drivers... especially since I was on old Kumhos and they were on HOOSIERs!!!! I was able to close to .001 off the 2nd place car, and I was the only guy to beat the DS winner today, but it just wasn't enough.
I'm not real upset, though, since the winner was Gary Meredith who has trophied at Nationals in the past, and 2nd place, Al Aberson, has also done well nationally. I am confident that I would have won outright if I wasn't cheap, and I had Hoosiers. Maybe in the fall... If only I could make it to Topeka this year
It was good to meet another one of the gang: Kevin (kcbhiw) was there, so it was great to put a face to the name... I'm looking forward to the next event we both make it to, it was fun.
When i get a chance, I'll make a couple vids of the 2 courses and post them up.
