Gonna Try Something....accord type R lip

I got one for my accord and it was the biggest piece of s*** I ever bought, the holes didn't line up and it broke in half the first time I hit a parking block thing.. There usually not urathane.. I payed like 200 bucks for a fake urathane lip., Be careful

Well this one is urethane, I emailed the company to make sure. It was quite flexible for the install. It only cost me $50 so I don't know where you bought your from but that sucks dude. Hopefully it won't bust apart on me!

Your paint code is listed on the Driver side door frame.

I know the paint code I just have to figure out ow to paint urethane and what to use. I'm trying to keep the cost down so I would perfer to do it my self.

Is there any place that sells paint in a rattle can that I could use, that would match? I don't have airhoses or a spray gun. Since it's only a small lip I was thinking of just taping the area off and sanding it down, primer then some paint. But I would need paint. I know they make flexible primer in a can for bumpers.

ive got a civic type r lip its the same as the accord. except the accord is a bit wider which it should be easier to fit.

my bumper is cracked i know... -_-"

That looks good, How'd you get the sides to be so flush? Mine kinda flares out a bit, Not sure if I'm liking that. And what did you do to paint it? How much did that cost?

s*** i did this project a while back with the type r lip. decided to not keep it on, just threw it in the trash. kinda hard to work with a plastic lip that doesnt fit without bending and what not. some areas got warped using the heat gun. howeve i got my brand new for 40 bucks. lol i cant see the pic u posted up but i think i gunna give the urethane a try.

I had do do very little cutting and only a little bit of heat. I used about 20 screws underneath to hold it on. The urethane was very easy to work with.

i just cut out the top part and forced it in with a friend once it was in we kept holding it tight until we each screwed it in. hard job on the arms but if you make it right it turn out nice. didnt heat up s*** by the way.

i actually painted it myself.

sand it
prime it
resand with a skinnier paper
paint with a can
clear coted it.

all that was done with the lip on the car. just put some tape all around so that the paint doesnt go on the bumper.

Ok, cool, Where were you able to find Color Matching paint in a rattle can? And did you use flex Primer at all or a flex agent in the paint? Did you screw into the bottom of the lip into the bumper or the top of the lip to the bumper? It looks like it's covering half of the lower part of your bumper, true? I don't think I could have done that with the p5 bumper. Looks good though

What year civic is that from? My 2001-2005 civic type r lip was too small. I'm guessing the one you used was from a 90's civic. No one ever gives a straight awnser on what year fits...

Maybe that's cause none of them truly fit... (lol2)

94-95 accord oem lip has been done. This is either a 94-95 type R accord lip, or the 96-97. I think its the 94-95... No one's keeping any secrets, lol. (attn)

ill try to answer all of you at once lol

1) Paint : got it from napa autoparts... cost me 21 canadian $

2) i used sandable primer... thats all i know i got it from canadian tire. (like wal mart...its canadian ricer shop) :D should be around 10$

3)i drilled the holes the higher i can. and the lip is actually half on the bumper and half under it (air)

4) its a civic type r 98 lip. i do know that some guy for a local forum took the accord lip which is the same but wider... IMO it should be easier to fit it then the civic one.

but i cant assure you that the accord one fits...i didnt personnaly see or do it.
but im sure that the 98 civic does fit. but you have to be with a friend or else your gonna struggle.

the civic one looks like a better fit but that's on the sedan. Wondering if it'll fit that good on the P5.

P5/MSP/MP3 bumper is at least a few inches longer than the sedan bumper.

This is true, from the research I did on this the Civic bumper is a bit shorter side to side then the accord lip. Even the Accord lip is a teeny bit shorter then the P5 lip but I can live with it. I was actually able to fix the flare out problem last night. I just took some extra material and made straps that I bolted to the very ends and then screwed in to the car to hold it from flaring.

Pics of this?

Haven't took pics of this yet, It was kinda an after thought that I did last night to make it look a bit better. I'll be doing a How-to for what I did in the coming days.

I got around to installing the Type R today. I think it looks good considering it was only $50 bucks off ebay. I thought it was quite easy to work with the urethane as far as bending it and everything. Let me know your thoughts and opinions, but please keep it civil if you don't like it. Thanks now here's some pics....
